Fyi

Just so there are no mis-understandings everyone should know this is a fund raising tourney. So a portion of the 40 entry fee will be taken out, but there will be 1000 added money. Just wanted it to be clear as I have seen complaints in the past when this wasnt stated up front.

There has also been talk of a second calcutta when it gets down to the final 8 players.

Why in the world do they play these big tournaments on bar tables? Bar tables should be collected and burned.

I know what you mean, I like big tables much better :)

But in our town the only 9' table room has only a couple tables that are playable at best. Not to mention there is a much bigger draw for bar table tourneys than big table tourneys (unfortunatly)

My Opinion ...

Bar tables get too much flak, IMHO.

Playing safe is much harder on a bar table than a full sized.
(any idiot can knock an object ball to the other end, or take
the cue ball to the other end on a full sized table, and feel
pretty confident that they will get another shot)

Everyone can not reach shots on a full sized table, which
is a deterrent to playing on one, since they don't want
to lose a match because of the 'bridge' shot.

Once you have mastered english pretty much, getting shape
on a full sized table is not that hard.

Not having the best eyes can be a deterrent also to playing on
a big table, but you can still enjoy a bar table. (I don't mind
losing because someone played better than me, but not because
I could not see the shot).

The bar tables played on today should be called 7.5' tables really,
since they are 5.5" longer and 3.5" wider than a standard 7 footer
normally found in bars.

I grew up on 8 and 9 footers, and snooker 10' tables, and can
play well on them, 14.1, one hole, 8 or 9, but prefer not to.
(I still enjoy playing Golf on a snooker table though).

I have many a 'up and coming' player think they would have
the 'edge' over me by playing me on a big table, only to find
out otherwise after playing.

Everyone tends to favor what they feel strongest in.

I see your points, but having a $1,000 added tournament on bar tables is dumb. Bar tables are what they are. For ball-banging in a smokey tavern while loaded, or date night.

How can the width be increased by more than half, of the length's increase?
Half of 5.5, is 2.75.

Indiana is a small table, state. :(

Im not Jimmy but I will give you the info as I understand it and if I am wrong he will correct me when he gets here :D

There is no registration fee. The remaining $20 does go into the prized fund. The tables are .75 per game but there has been discusion of charging a green fee and opening up the tables. There is a weekly friday night tournament that will be held as normal. At 8pm on friday there is a single game 8ball tourney, but this is normally for 6's and under. Right after the 8ball they hold a nineball tourney open to everyone. You can usually find light action on Friday nights, but if you are wanting a big game let me know and Ill see what I can do.

You talk a good talk.....come on in town and put up. You havent a clue, and you the more you talk the dumber you sound.

The word was while I was in Springfiled, MO. was Dave Matlock, formally from KC, also a pretty decent player (top notch) had a standing offer of 10K matchups on a bar table. I had heard many came and played and didnt like it. You might have heard of Dave as he still plays and seems to always do well at DCC, and yes Splinterhands at DCC those are full sized Diamond tables.

Ugh these internet champions.........
