That's very interesting. I'm excited to be going to this event as it is a new one for me and one of my goals this year was to attend new tournaments. I can't go to all of the ones I want to go to but this is a different part of the country that I am not familiar with and am simply amped up about the prospects of being there.
Weather has been amazing, am now thinking we'll have a warm dry spring. Check the weather the week before you come, be prepared for bad weather if it is in the forecast, and be prepared for anything.
Do not assume you will get car rentals or rooms when you get to minot. Rooms and cars have been 100% occupied for much of the winter, and I don't expect that to drop off this spring. New Town is the same way. Don't expect to be able to pick up a room somewhere.
If the roads get slippery or visibility drops, it can take much longer to get to New Town from Minot.
The highway that goes through New Town is heavily traveled by oil trucks, be careful.
There are a few good bars in New Town with pool tables, and the pool hall in Minot has bar tables, 9' tables, and billiards tables.
The K-Bar in Makoti, east of New Town 30 miles or so supports pool in the area, so support them if you can.
Realize that casinos host pool tournaments hoping you will gamble. If you like the tournament, throw some money in the slots to thank them. Maybe you'll come out ahead.
If you get in a bind or have questions about the area, email me at brianl at brilac dot com. You can PM me also, but I won't be checking PM's that weekend very often.
That is a great heads-up Brian. Thank you. I don't plan on moving around much once I get there. I do want to make a trip to the tribe's museum a couple of miles from the Casino but will bum a ride or just catch a taxi. Playing in two events and doing commentary will probably give me little time for much else.
I plan to fly into Fargo and visit Fargo Billiards on Wednesday and I THINK Mike Page has got me covered for transportation to 4Bears Casino on Thursday.
Why yes of course. Looking forward to this Joey!
