11-7 is not a domination

Duh. Where did SVB fluke a ball in a hill hill match.

He won 2 hill hill matches. One he played a beautiful 2 - 9 carom and executed it perfectly to make the 9. The other hill hill match he ran out perfectly.

I have only read a half dozen of your posts but it seems you like to make things up. Try sticking to the actual facts. Or I guess you can continue to make stupid things up if it gets you off.

Here you go. He shits the 3 ball. Won the match double hill. Score was 3-1 at the time. At 4-1 down, the match is done.

Learn to read. I said they shit balls in hill hill matches. Not during the hill hill game.

great event to watch......both teams played some very good 9 ball. BOTH teams had some fluke pots...BOTH teams had some fantastic outs...BOTH teams missed some easy shots...the good rolls and the bad rolls were not quite as even...they favored Europe. Overall, Europe broke better and I feel that kept them safely ahead. It was a close contest, 18 points, with 8 hill hill matches that could have gone either way.....okay tear me to shreds now with how I didn't see the match right....I did watch and next time I'd like to be there
.

They outplayed USA solidly.

Still a couple sets were brutal loses. Particularly Bergman in his singles when he had the great comeback and the cueball checked up off the rail and then behind the 9.

Bergman and Woodward were the stars of team USA. Those boys can play.

Any way you slice it, "2nd Place is the 1st Loser". Wish they could have won it.

Dont forget the Golden Break that Shane lost on the Hill Hill Match

Neils won that one, but Neils did play better than Shane but still, one thing I would like to see is a 2 ahead like in Tennis. Deuce then Advantage and then you win one more then the match is over.

I dont mind the short matches, the hill hill is exciting but I still feel it would be a better representation of the match if you had to win by 2.

How many of the matches went HILL HILL?? A lot. It showed you that but for one game, the match score could have been--USA 11 Europe 7

Or just as easily been USA 9 EUROPE 9

Or just as easily been USA 4 EUROPE 11

This mosconi cup had lots of hill hill matches that were very exciting but not a good representation of how the match should have been won or lost.

Please bring in a 2 ahead into the Mosconi Cup or a Deuce, Advantage and then Match--system.

What do the AZers think about this idea?????

USA---Great showing, other than Corey being out of sorts I feel the overall quality was GREAT on both Teams. If you would have had JUSTIN Hall this year instead of Corey Deuel.

USA would have won this Mosconi Cup.

Just my opinion.

Shane is an AWESOME player in every right but I just dont think he rises to the short race occasion. If these were long race to 25 matches, SHANE would be right along side every European Player on their team.

There is a reason why Shane is in the TOP 15 WORLD Rankings and #1 in the USA Rankings, its not because he CANT shoot. The Mosconi format is just not in his wheelhouse, right now, but that will change as he works on this part of his Game.

The One thing about Shane is whatever his weakness is, if he wants to make a change and get better at that weakness you cant find a better WORK ETHIC and GRINDER than what SHANE will do to get that weakness and turn it into a STRENGTH. Just like people said around the WORLD that Shane could play on the World Scene, Challenge him, give him 3 years and now he is the First Repeat at the Worlds. Please give talent where talent is due, dont be haters!!!

Alex PAG needs to get his dual citizenship and then NEXT YEARS MOSCONI TEAM

USA----

Alex Pagulyan
Skyler Woodward
Justin Bergman
Justin Hall
Shane Van Boening

That would be my team, What do you think MARK Wilson

PS. Great Job MARK, on turning around the USA team and really getting a good NEW FACE of USA MOSCONI TEAM BLOOD!!!

KEEP IT UP

I just mentioned this in another thread. If Bergman
hadn't hooked himself on the final 8 we would have
had a nailbiter. More then likely Europe still would have
won, but it would have been really exciting.

If team selection remains on basis of merit though, I
fear next year won't be as close as this year.

I think some of you need to look at the contributions to the team's performance, as outlined by AtLarge, for the event, before you make comments about who the workhorses were for Team USA. Here are the stats he compiled:

Another way of looking at the records is to count a full point for each player in a singles win or loss, half a point for each player in a doubles win or loss, and one-fifth of a point for each player in a team win or loss. So the following numbers essentially answer the question: "What numerical contribution did each player make to the overall Mosconi Cup match scores?"

Team USA
• Van Boening ..... 2.2 - 2.5 (winning percentage of 47%)
• Deuel ..... 1.2 - 1.5 (44%)
• Dechaine ..... 0.7 - 2.0 (26%)
• Bergman ..... 1.7 - 2.5 (40%)
• Woodward ..... 1.2 - 2.5 (32%)

Looking at the stats, SVB was the best player for the Americans. In order of their contributions, here they are:

SVB
Deuel
Bergman
Woodward
Dechaine

Say what you want about Corey struggling - he won his singles game. Sure, Nick gave him chances to win, but the point is....he won. On the big stage, look at the bottom 3, and the top 2. The top 2 are the guys catching all the grief, and two of the bottom three have been heralded on this board. And not one player won half of their games.

BTW, the WORST performer of the tournament was Nick VDB. He had a win percentage of 20%, a full 6% lower than the worst player on the USA team. So....you can have a weak player drag you down, and still win. People were making fun of Albin Ouschan as a choice before the MC. They were calling him "Jasmin". He had a winning percentage over 70% this year. Pretty impressive rookie, yet everyone is talking about Bergman and Skylar.

Better make it the year after that. There's no chance they can win it on European soil with only 2 players being properly competitive.

After losing 5...now 6 times in a row, that pressure is building to finally "win".

Blackpool and wherever else they play is a tough crowd.

Watching a few older links of previous cups, I noticed races to 6 and 7 in the past...I think a race to 7 would be perfect.

Also it all went down hill after they moved the 9 on the spot for the USA. ;) ;) Although they broke better this year.

USA looked better this year imo. Congrats to Team Europe

I enjoyed watching the matches (did not see all but what I watched were good) and the last game was outstanding. Having the pressure of having to win to keep from losing the whole thing or being the one to NOT win it must have been tough to fade, yet they did. I really though we would win the set when that cueball was going at the 9, I have to say that was some luck there that helped them win rather than having to kick at the 8 and take chances.

Whilst 11-7 in not domination...6 in a row is complete and utter domination. We've got some up and comers who can make us competitive again. But as Mikey Frost said in another thread, they've got to play enough to qualify every year. Justin Hall played the best for us last year (IMO) and would likely have been a better guy this year to have than 1 or 2 guys, but didn't play enough to get qualified.

Still waiting to hear about that stuff I made up. You've been pretty quiet....
