112 Ball Run

TAP TAP TAP

I have only ever run 100+ once in my life, and I assure you if I had it on video and posted it here (wasn't recorded) it would make you all SICK. My patterns are TERRIBLE, and my 14.1 pace is pretty awful too. I relied on my stroke, shot making, and ability to move the rock to get me where I needed to be (main reason I have only ever had ONE good run). I am green with envy over your ability to stay calm and collected, and to let the balls tell you what patterns to play.

This was a fine example of how runs should look, I know I will use it as reference in the future!

Jay, I think we've all had the fugly runs. I know I've had some that looked like I was with Cirque du Soleil. Thanks.

Lou: Nice number. Have not had the time to watch it yet. emailed it out to some folks, like all the guys in our league and then some. Jeff Mohl says Nice steady play. Sent a link to Monsignor Lavin as well, Will be downloading it and watching on one of my commutes soon. Congrats.

Thanks, Dennis.

One thing I noticed Lou that is noteworthy was when you had the wrong angle on a shot you were patient and didn't try and force the issue. You waited until a little later in the rack and those decisions pay off. You always had insurance when going into the pack, and your cueball movement for the most part was at a minimum. You stay very still through the cueball which as everyone knows, gives you the best chance to pocket balls, but not easy to do. Great shooting and keep it up, I would love to duplicate that one day :wink:

The patience thing is something Dallas West stressed to me during my lesson with him. He said, "Work the rack, don't let the rack work you." The insurance thing is kinda basic but extremely hard to force yourself to always do. It is only through hard won experience (and the tragic senseless murder of numerous runs) that you learn that one :-) Thanks again, Mark.

I haven't watched the run yet but am looking forward to it.

I have a suggestion you might want to try... see if it works for you. I found some freeware called Handbrake. It allows you to reduce the size of a video file enormously (like 90% smaller) believe it or not, with little to no discernable loss in quality. When you open up the software, the trick is to go to the Video tab and over to the right side, there is a sliding scale for Quality. Drag the quality marker on the scale from 20 (the starting point) and move it to 28. Then go ahead and convert your file to the smaller size. You do this before uploading to Youtube. If you have time try taping a high quality video and then doing this conversion and see if you can tell the difference. It's amazing!

real nice run lou, I knew you could play.
there is a shot at just before twenty four minutes.
If there is room for it...
I like to lay the grip hand on the table as I stroke.
very stable...
btw, you can forget about any future "business opportunities" near where I live.
thanks for the video

I am new to this recording, uploading, and YouTubing experience. In the course of getting this video public I had several nightmares:

1. The camera didn't record the run;

2. Somehow I tilted the camera and you'd only be able to see half the table;

3. I mis-counted and it was only a 48 ball run;

4. It was a 112 balls but my fly was open during the run;

5. I had done something else that sent the run into the ozone before I could get it uploaded.

So now you want me to fook with compression software?!

Thanks, driven. I will try your suggestion next week. Opportunities come. Opportunities go :-)

You mean slide the grip hand on the cloth as you stroke? Sounds very cool.

Congrats on a nice run on video, Lou.

Last night 51, 79 and on a roll... damnit.

You don't get to say, "Damnit." *I* stole that from Smorg, clean as could be :-)

Congrats, Lou! It's amazing what a person can accomplish with Mosconi's personal cue ball. :grin:
