is going for bills & house improvements. I got the
little lady drinking Friday night & asked her if I
could spend 12-13 hundred dollars on a cue &
she said sure honey. Most of my cues have been
in the 3-5 hundred dollar range. I did spend 700
on a Dale Perry before I realized I could get one
considerably cheaper.
Now, if I actually get the money what should I buy?
I'm looking for hit & looks rather than an investment.
I don't want a SUPER stiff hit but other than that.
I've got fairly stiff hitting cues I like;but I also like my 20
year old Meucci. I've got some wood to wood cues
and some wrapless cues I like. IOW I'm open to suggestions.
Definitely want a custom cue. Suggestions.
Also, I'm not near any dealers and haven't been able
to go to Valley Forge.Something new or like new.

You're lucky, you can get your wife a little tipsy. My wife won't drink a drop of alcohol, damned!! It's not a religious thing with her, she just can't stand the taste.
I got a custom cue from Dave Jacoby a couple of years ago that I just love and it only cost me $495 with two shafts and a leather wrap. It still looks brand new and I put a lot of miles on it! He makes some beautiful cues too.

PM's. You've certainly given me food for thought.
I was in a bad car wreck & waiting for a settlement.
I thought this week & have now been told it will
be a month.

If not, then check out the Capone and Bluegrass on www.erikleecues.com : both should play very nicely and are within your price range.

He can build you what you want; is great to work with, and is currently @ around roughly 16 weeks build time...which is not too shabby. What you will get is a beautifully executed cue, made just for you, for not alot of money....still think he is one of the best bangs for your buck.

Cues are fun, pretty, but in the end don't really make you the straighter shooter of your best times, which is where you want to go in the end, being the best you can be each outing IMexperience. Instead it just leads to buying a larger cue case to house your favorites, plus one more you might find on the cheap, maybe. Consider taking some of that settlement cash and going to RandyG's pool school, never too late than now to learn anew what maybe should have been learned long ago. Briesath says it is like a clock, eventually all pro's return to fundamentals when problems start showing up in their game.
So far, $400 for custom cues at the bottom end of looks but the top end of performance has been enough for me, your station in life may now suggest other choices. I'ld spend money on lessons, that's me.
Make your choice, with your wife's and family interests in mind, and keep in mind it is trade-offs in the end, using available cash for best purposes... and strictly pool purposes is likely selfish and not going to fly with reason or the wife, with good reason. Especially if kids are involved. Game is... game.
I just hope the long-term physical injury doesn't exceed the pleasure of short-term spending options. Certain you will make reasonable choices from where you are. Good luck on the green baize.

I knew someone would step up and say the great Andy Gilbert. Can't beat his price:quality ratio.Cornerman said:Andy Gilbert.
Oh, and BTW, that Mike Webb Cue (Bacote with Purpleheart and Holly points) is a beautiful cue. I would never have thought the combination worked, but this cue combination from Mike is very attractive in person.
