I was told by a local 8ball league operator that a new place is about to open up, so I went by today and checked it out. They really have two 12 footers there, (but not in the best shape)
It's called Caspers' billiards and it on 646 in Bacliff just south of Dusty Hill (ZZ-top) mansion.

Then there is Chup Chap @ 9623 Bissonnet St with 3 tables. (Also in pretty poor conditions)

A single table at Bogeys (not sure about the address)

And of course my house....

Am I missing anything?

There is a place called red and white snookers up on the northwest side but I am not sure if it has 12 footers.

There not 12 footers but U Of H main campus has a snooker table and so doest big daddy's in Alvin. Both tables suck, but its better than nuttin.

So Dr. Snooker who is going to win the handball world championship this year.:D

Bogies is at 3040 FM 1960 in Houston. It's about 2 miles east of IH45 on 1960 behind the Subway.

All the tables including the 6x12 Snooker table are in excellent condition!!

mnorwood if you insist on hijacking the thread.... As any REAL world championship in any sport is played against opponents from other countries, I'd have to go with the Amsterdam Crusaders. *laughs*

Thanks big truck. Too bad I live on the south side of town. That's probably close to an hour drive for me...

You Americans, always bragging. So you've got an hour's drive, and I've only got a four foot path. So what.

I wouldn't worry about the thread being hijacked. It might get 2 more responses.:D

I'll bump the thread if there's no more responses, or perhaps these really are all the snooker tables in Houston. Let's just hope that Caspers can get enough customers to stay afloat. Or may be not, and you can pick up a cheap used table...

I was thinking the same thing. I will have my eye on the place. If it goes under I will be waiting.

Caspers

What is the physical address for Caspers and what types and numbers of tables do they have?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I don't think they have a physical address yet. They just put up the building. It's at the intersection of 21st street and highway 646 in Bacliff, TX.
It's not on the satelite pictures of google maps, but it is on street view (but without the sign outside)
They have two twelve foot tables, (of the bar box variety) not Riley or BCE.

I'm not sure I'm understanding you. I've never seen a barbox snooker table.

Do you simply mean that the pedestal is similar in style to that of a pool table, with flat boxed tapering sides instead of 6 or 8 individual legs, and not that money is put in to retrieve the balls? I can't see how putting money in would work. You need to be able to respot balls during the game.

That flat sided pedestal style of snooker table was quite common for tables supplied in the 1970's I believe, but actually looks quite dated now I think. By contrast the traditional legged tables look classic and timeless. It just goes to show how tastes change.

Dave and Busters has a snooker table also. The table is always in good condition because the average dave and buster customer doesn't know how to play snooker. Played there a while back but I'm not sure if the snooker table is still there.

I've played snooker at Bogies in Houston - I was invited along by the WPBA pro Kim White who practices there.

The pockets on the snooker table are incredibly tough, but I still managed a 50-something break on it to my amazement!!! :)

I had such a laugh and good time there though, and would like to go along again sometime.

Best wishes.

For the locals, Bogies is at the intersection of 1960 and Aldine Westfield.

I've had the pleasure to play on the snooker table there, its the only one I've ever seen. It brutally killed me, and I only was able to get 1 or 2 points at a time...

However, I was able to meet Kim White there one day, and she was really nice. Without anything being said, she said to keep a look out for her there. Nice lady.

Caspers is open now.

I heard tonight that Caspers in Bacliff is now open and has two snooker tables. Can't wait to check it out.:D

Yeah, Kim is a real character and such a nice lady!

Here is a photo of us both at Bogies after I had finished playing snooker:

You can just see the edge of the snooker table in the left of photo. The pocket rubbers need to be cut to a standard size and the cloth needed to be brushed, but nevertheless it is a proper napped snooker cloth which is good.

Best wishes.

Alan.
