14.1 Pool Group in phoenix?

Long time lurker...first time poster here.

Been trying to improve all aspects of my game. Some team members have helped me immensely over the past few sessions. My advancement is moving along...I've only been playing about a year.

I'm wondering if anyone out in the Phoenix area would be interested in getting together for a weekly or bi-monthly night of shooting straight pool. Ideally I wanted to join a league but I'm not sure there are too many in Phoenix, especially for beginners like me.

We could get together at Bullshooters, they have plenty of 9 footers available. We could all get together to shoot, learn the game and learn the strategy of the game. Getting people of all skill levels would be awesome, hopefully we can all learn from each other.

Would be a fun night and we would all learn a lot and play a great game.

Your idea has merit, but this guy don't step foot in Bullshooters.

doesn't have to be bullshooters...just the only place i know of that would be good to play...i'm open to other places...

will that other league be n00b friendly?

Larry's Leagues are for all level players, and he also has a lady that does ACS League that are shall we say not a serious as BCA.

Also if I am not wrong at one time Kolby's in Tempe has a 14/1 League, PM Fast Lenny as Kolby's is like his home away from home.
 
Isn't Bernie Pettipeace (sp?) in Phoenix? He plays great 14.1.

I am pretty sure Fast Lenny streamed some 14.1 from down there.

There is another guy down there, Babe Thompson, who is originally from the midwest who is a very good 14.1 player. I bet you could learn a thing or two from him.

Sounds like a great idea. I have been looking for some 14.1 players myself. I also like to shoot a little pill pool just for fun. I was a pretty fair shooter years ago but I got away from the game and just getting back to it so I need to hone some skills as well. I will be putting in my own table in a few weeks (9' Connelly) and it we could certainly play at the house. (Near Luke AFB) What's wrong with "Bullshooters"? I have never been there.

They all play at Kolby's, or the EAST SIDE!!!! Babe Thompson is what pool should be a great Ambassador of the GAME!

Abie,

If you are interested, I'm probably going to start up a short session of the 14.1 league that I ran at Kolby's a year ago. I'll probably shoot for Thursday nights.

Traditionally, we've just done a true round robin league where everybody plays everybody and we use a handicap system (based initially on AZ rating) but then adjusts as you win or lose.

What night of the week were you looking to play? Let me know either way. We had all levels of players in our league... fyi.

Thursday would be perfect...I'd have to convince my wife to let me play every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night now...lol

Not to mention all the tournaments I'm playing in as well...but I'd love to play
