Hi guys,

Its been a long day so stay with me on this...

If i pot a ball legally then on the same shot pot another ball with the cue ball unintentionally... what happens to that 2nd ball? Is it spotted? Have i committed a foul? Is it 2 points for me?

Thanks in advance,

2 points. As long as there is no foul, any extra ball or balls that go in count as long as you make the called ball.

Now thats what i call service  Thanks for the very quick and concise answer. Reps coming your way.

Yes

Yes, Dennis is correct. Also, think of a break shot. 2 or 3 others balls might fall in. They all count as long as you make the ball that you were shooting at. It also does not matter if a ball falls in before the one that you are shooting at as long as you make the ball that is called.

Also, If you call a shot, whack it and miss, and it goes 4 rails into the called pocket it's a legally pocketed ball. Play enough 14.1 and you will see it happen.

No ....... there is no luck involved in 14.1!

Another rule question..My opponent scratches..I take ball in hand behind the line.. can I place the cue ball in the corner pocket behind the rails tit and the touch the cue ball (fouling) leaving him to have to bank into something or pushing out for his second foul ?

No, you have to shoot out of the kitchen. You can bank a ball back up into the kitchen without hitting something if you like.

The move you describe would be unsportsmanlike conduct (verdict up to referee's discretion). Because playing from behind the head string you are urged to make the cue ball cross the string. You are free to try placing the whitey in a fashion you describe, but playing out of bounds of the kitchen (masse or rail shot). If one can place the cue ball behind the pocket jaw that way - oooh he is dangerous!:grin-square:

There absolutely is luck in straight pool. I know because it's the only reason I've never run 100 balls. I get the bad version of that luck all the time.
