14.1 Rules Question, from The Twilight Zone

No, he hit the ball on a frozen lake. He is also a famous for playing pool with a broom.

It was indeed on a frozen lake...Lake St Clair had froze on a calm night.
It was Titanic Thompson who won the money....two old-timers in Detroit told me when
I was a kid....they were two of the losers to that bet.

The story has morphed into 'on an airport runway'....but even Titanic didn't have the
clout to get an airport.

My favorite 'hit a ball a mile' bet was Joe Louis losing $10,000....
...the guy knocked a ball into the Grand Canyon where it's over a mile deep.

Pool is so fascinating there are endless things you can do that are ligit. Also in the Hustler Mosconi even had him do the 2 ball masse shot at the corner. Why??
Because it looked neat. But such a shot could occur as a side bet during the game, I suppose. "I bet I can run this rack in 13 shots."

Once again, documentaries are supposed to be authentic, dramas are not
required to be.

Dale

If someone does a drama and doesn't try hard enough to make it right, I don't respect
his work a whole lot.

In my area, I was called in because they wanted to touch up a commercial that was
messed up....two balls were occupying the same space.
They had the top of the table flown in from LA because they wanted the cloth color and
wear pattern to be exact.
Then they kept checking the ball position ( even how the stripes and numbers were facing)
.....I just had to roll an easy shot in and park whitey a foot away....
....they gave me pretty good money for it.

I don't admire the people who say "That's good enough."

I was also involved in a one minute commercial that took twelve hours to shoot.
The good directors are perfectionists.
