No difference. The gist of it is that the predecessor to straight pool was known as continuous pool and the fundamental difference was that the balls weren't re-racked until all fifteen had been made. When the change was made to rack the balls once only fourteen balls had been pocketed, the game was renamed 14.1 continuous, but it's now known familiarly as both 14.1 and also straight pool.Is there a difference between the two? Were they originally different games? I have always used both terms to describe the same game.
