My background speaks for itself in tournament promotion. Let me throw this out there to interested parties: If someone gives me $20,000 for a Straight Pool event, I promise $40,000 added, tough tables, no politics, qualified referees, etc. If you want something done right go to someone with experience and credibility.
People are calling me up saying all the things that were wrong with the just held tournament. There's no sense in going into detail. Suffice it to say that Straight Pool deserves a better presentation than what just transpired. I'm just the guy to do it, too if I can garner a little help and there won't be any players sitting at home wishing they could play.

If I wasn't a broke unemployed recent college graduated I would jump all over this. I really hope someone out there can step up for all of us that love the game of straight pool, and I don't think there is any question that Grady can put out a good product.

Doing a better job in promoting 14.1 would definitely be a good start. However, the other games of pool like 8-ball, 9-ball and 1-pocket also need to somehow do a better job in promoting themselves.

Isn't this an oxymoron? You say you don't want politics but then you stir up a political argument right way.

$20,000 down?

......."$40,000 added, tough tables, no politics, qualified referees, etc.".

Grady, does the etc. include some return on the investment? Most people with $20K to spare have it because they aren't in the habit of giving their money away. From the standpoint of the investor, how do you see it working out?

Cuedude completely donated the $20,000, just to have some 14.1. You're right, of course, most investors or sponsors would like to see some return on their investment. I have some pretty good ideas regarding that but I don't care to put them on the internet.
Look, I need to do a straight pool tournament like I need another hole in the head. I just have always loved straight pool and hated industry politics. Make no mistake about it. This current bunch, the UPA, is awful for our sport.
By the way, to set the record straight: I offered to do One Pocket, 14.1 and Bank Pool and get them sanctioned by the UPA and also try to talk Greg into the same thing. I only asked one thing: that these marvelous
disciplines receive equal ranking points with 9 Ball. I not only was curtly turned down I was given the president's word that they'd only do 9 Ball. Ha, is all I have to say.
