140-pcs Ivory on Pink Ivory Cue

Thanks for the info. You just can't imagine the desire for us to ship cues with ivory to the US. But because of shortcomings of some before us, shipping ivory to the US by concealing it and being caught, US Customs have been much strict with cues coming in from the Philippines. I am not worried about FedEx as they never failed me. But I do not have control if US Customs would hold the cue because of ivory. I wouldn't take the risk of being blacklisted by US Customs for smuggling ivory, if & when it is caught. I am deeply sad, really... like it would be so much more who could benefit from this if not for that ivory importation issue. A US$2000 price tag for example, on this remarkable cue, I believe is very much reasonable... and I have several of our US Customers wanting it because of the low price... but unfortunately, I can't ship it. :frown:

Let me dig up a CITIES permit and solve that problem, I dont know where they are(but I know I have them) then its my ivory in a cue you built, then Customes has no chance. With that in place you could import alll the cues through me.

I give you a lot of credit for doing great work. I like the design of the cue a lot, and REALLY respect the way in which you have to make the inlay pockets and do all the work painstakingly by hand.

Great work. Thanks for sharing!

Team Bebot is humbled by your kind words sir.

Many thanks. :embarrassed2:

many thanks sir. i already applied for a CITES certification recently since i had a customer who wanted ivory in his cues. i already had a detailed conversation with the CITES officer and she told me i needed to get certification here (Philippines) that the ivory we use is pre-ban ivory, before we get to have a CITES certificate - which is nearly impossible as we all know there is no pre-ban ivory here. unless i go red-tape, i would never get that certificate.

you missed my point,

i have piles of CITIES permits for sport hunted elephants(I used to hunt elephant every year until my back stopped that fun), which means I can do what I want with MY ivory, the thing is they cant tell my ivory from any other ivory-its all the same as far as they care. So If i send you ivory and you build me a cue you can ship it back to me. Or if you think out side the box since I can create that scenario to get the cue into the US, then I can re-ship the cue to who ever bought it, and they cant tell where the ivory came from, if they ask show the CITIES permit I let you use, see what i mean ???? :D, it's a nice work around, Ivory needs to be 10 years old before it goes on a cue anyways so the date on the permit dosent matter. What I'm doing is placing ivory(on paper) legally in your hands to send back to me then I can send it to the end user here in the Land of the not so Free. BTW I'm in legal possession of about 600 pounds of it. I'd be over 1000pounds if I didnt miss hunting the last 4 years. Next year I hope I can go-elephant hunting gives pool the 5 out. I have enough elephant skin to wrap a small house, LOL

i see. that is entirely legal and possible sir. :)

WOW... Les this is a problem.... i like more this cue than my cue project... :)

Alessandro

Hi Alessandro. Are you back now? I'll check if I can squeeze this very nice cue in for you within your project cue price.

At least with this one, there is no long wait.

its legal if I recieve the cue as the owner, then sell it. It its over $1500 then there is duty tax but since nobody but pool players(and only some of them) realize the value of cues-so if the cues were imported through me, you handle your accounting with your client-I could just reship the cue to the new owners. If you like I will look for a permit. I am glad to help.

that is so much help sir. i would definitely come to you and try it out one time. of course, as much as i value friendship and appreciate kind gestures like this one which i am very thankful of, i still do believe business is business, and i will extend a service fee to you in case there would be a need for me to utilize such procedure. as of now, i don't have one as all of those dozens from the US who were interested in an ivory-laiden cue, i all turned down politely... and unfortunately so.
