Most every Taiwanese and Chinese player I've seen prefers fat solid maple shafts.

I don't think too many will buy shafts that are less than 13mm.

Up until a few years ago, when I started playing around with some new cues, I always used 14mm shafts...since the early 70s.

Fat shafts are like any other shaft. Some play good, others not so much.
