1780 Wooden-Bed Billiard Table

I spotted this on ebay. Pretty interesting to have a look under to hood. Currently going for £7,500, in the UK...

Currently dismantled. No cushions. I do not know how many other billiard tables such as this have survived - I know the late Norman Clare (of E.A. Clare & Son) much regretted missing out on buying such a table - although I think he eventually found one similar to this.

With another couple of thousand you could probably get a usable table with a few rolls and peculiarities. I think you would want thick cloth to hide the probable roll-off. And the cushions would need to be designed from scratch with rubber instead of horsehair or such. It would be sort of a shame to hide the wooden bed with cloth.

The seller is also offering a personalized license plate that says "SNO6KER" for only 9000 pounds.

I remember an earlier version than this in really rough shape for sale in the early 1990s My friend and i discussed buying it and then thought better. It would make a nice conversation table in a rec room but not much practical use.
