Last Friday, John Schmidt was practicing at the BCA Expo in the OB1 booth on a 7-foot Diamond, and tried some straight pool. I happened to arrive at about 70. He continued to 182 and then scratched on a standard side-of-the-rack break when the cue ball seemed to kiss off two balls and looped with follow into the corner.
A 7-foot table is really, really crowded for straight pool. The good news is every shot is short, so even if you need to shoot a three-ball combo or jacked up the length of the table, you have a better chance to make the ball. John seemed to have no problem with the close manipulation shots and nudging balls into break position.
