Ive seen this one before.
But i find it funny at 20:33 into the vid willie looks at the dude (yelling out every shot) like "shut the f*%$ up!"

I can't believe the announcer reaches over the table and points to the pocket right when Willie shoots (and misses).

Willie looks (rightfully) pissed.

This video is in really good shape and fun to watch , thanks for posting.

As I recall, there were other reasons for Willie to be irritated. I think he shot a length-of-the-table safety that may have rolled off half a ball, and he may have had a skid another time. When that sort of stuff is happening, and you have to deal with a total-idiot referee, it's enough to make you take up nine ball.

Not a gem of a match but interesting.

Have to say that the referee on top of you on every shot would be difficult to deal with  . Thanks for the share, it was entertaining. I have seen that one before as well.

i believe this match can also be found at www.azbtv.com

yeah, that ref is terrible. it reminds of the us open match between sigel and rempe where sigel runs 150 and out. the ref is trying to guess what sigel is gonna shoot next and on plenty of occasions miscalls alot of balls. sigel, tired of correcting the guy, finally at one point says "look, i'll tell you before i shoot." he keeps on getting the score wrong too, with sigel correcting him, which to me is more forgivable.

its gotta be tough to run balls and keep on top of the ref. the referees in the crane/balsis match and sigel/zuglan match were both great.

This was very cool to watch as I have the Mosconi/Caras match from years later in Philly when both guys were much older.

It sure seems to me that they both were "in a hurry"? I guess that was the normal pace of play back in the day.

I"m not sure what the deal was with the ref, but that was down right distracting to say the least. I have never seen a match where the ref pointed to the pocket over the table in front of the player. Maybe this was the "test" match for the new ref system of calling the game?.......glad it didn't stick....
