I was in attendance but I have never heard of Bjorn Lorange. Tommy Ruocco was an American player who, to my knowledge, hasn't competed much since about 2000. He was a rock solid straight pooler.

Another notable player is Bjørn L'Orange, who was #176 of the world in 1994/95 according to snooker.org. He won 5 national snooker championships between 1982 and 2000 (see medal table at national championships). He was a successful pool player as well, winning the European Championship twice (1983 in Straight Pool, 1986 in 9-Ball).

Thanks for your knowledge!

And last but not least..... From This link rightchair

Tournament Director Roy Steffenson said, "We have a very good Norwegian field here, I think Bjørn L'Orange will do very well. He is a good former European Champion and has played professional snooker back in 1997 with Drago and O'Sullivan. He can do good and although he has a tough draw, I think maybe he will win his upcoming matches".

I'd imagine the locksmith himself might be able to give us some more info?

WOW 1983 ,I think the payouts were more than they are today ! Could be wrong

According to some Consumer Price Index (CPI) algorithms (good old internet), $10,000 in 1983 (Mr. Mizerak's 1st place payout) = around $23,500 in today's dollars.

One can see this is a pretty good score.
I believe comparable to the 2013 Ultimate 10-Ball 1st place.

By the way, the CPI—in simple terms—is the price of a particular "basket" of goods that measures (and can be compared against other years) the changes of our purchasing power.

I wonder what "The Miz" did with some of that money in 1983............:grin-square:
