Just picked this up from a friend locally. Love the classic, old school 4 pointers.

Thanks for the information! Not Mike. It’s been in my friend’s collection for some time. I’d still say there’s a good chance that I have your cue. It would make sense geographically- I’m in Virginia Beach, just a little over 4 hours south of Baltimore.Awesome! Is your friend named Mike? I sold one just like that to a guy here in Salt Lake City in 1987 named Mike the "Turk". Sold it with a 1x2 Manx case (Ann Gore) for $400. He hung around here for a year or so and moved on to Baltimore I believe. Mine was built in October 1985 also. Hard to believe Richard made 2 like that in the same month and year.
I love that too. It’s a much more pleasing look than having a bigger gap there. What I like about this cue is they veneers coming so close to each other at the bottom. That was ahead of its time in 1985 unless he used a Spain blank.

Richard has produced some amazing cues.I saw 2 of Richard’s cues this past weekend. They would not allow photography. Huge amounts of Ivory with silver ribbons inlay design. Silver rings with intricate engraving. Silver inlays with engraving in the wood. Wood was amazing. I think his cost was $1,000 a blank. Definitely a museum piece. Have no idea of the cost.
I had 2 made in 1989. Both signed; one dated.I have an early 80's Black that is signed but not dated. It was ordered by a gentleman in Central Indiana and remained with him for 30 years. Does anyone know when Richard started dating cues or why this one might not have been dated? Thanks all

Thank you! Seems like a good one.Awesome cue. Love those older Richard Blacks. Curious did you get it from a gentleman that goes by Sailor?

When he made my cue in 1988, wow that was a long time ago. Anyway, he would date the cue if it was built for someone who he thought was going to play with it and not resell the cue. At least that was my understanding.I have an early 80's Black that is signed but not dated. It was ordered by a gentleman in Central Indiana and remained with him for 30 years.
