Greetings,

A few months ago I bought a really nice 1989 Joss J-17 model. I bought it for nostalgia purposes (always wanted one when I started playing pool as a kid) and with the intention that I might become a collector of older Joss cues. Well, although I've been into other types of collectibles all of my life, when it comes to pool I'm purely just a player. If I'm not using a cue...I personally have no desire to hold onto it. One of those things I guess. I just keep the cue I have at the time that plays the best.

Let me say that the cue plays GREAT. When my father came to visit (and was cueless) I let him play with it, and he fell in love. The other day I was playing one pocket with a good player and I asked him to hit balls with it to see what he thought. Well, he ended up playing with it our entire session (instead of his old Scruggs which is real nice) and was talking about working out a trade - which I passed on. He didn't want to give it back. I would keep it to play with, but I'm just too used to my Schon cue, and don't feel like adjusting to anything new.

Anyhow, it is in excellent condition, has all of the documentation (original documentation/certificate from Joss, and documentation from when it was re-finished by Joss) plus I will include a complete 1989 Joss Catalog which features this model. It also has two shafts and everything is dead straight. This cue is a players cue, that also looks *really* nice!

If you buy this cue and aren't 100% satisfied, you can send it back and get a full refund. If you want to check on my references you can contact Don Purdy or Palmercollector. My ebay id is: Cuedude2002 (I originally joined ebay to buy cues and billiard stuff...but I think I've only ever purchased two or three cues on ebay, but have bought and sold lots of other high end collectibles with 100% customer satisfaction).

PM me for a price and pictures. (BTW, I'm at work - but when I get home I'll try to post some pics on this thread as well if anyone is interested).

Thanks,
Matt Kimbro

ahhh the good old days.....that cue brings back lots of memories. i don't care if it's cnc, it's still one of the first 'better' cues that i saw growing up. good luck with the sale!!! if the price is right, i might be interested for nostalgic value.

just had another thought.

here's the million dollar question:

can anybody tell me what kind of cue Nick Varner and Mike Sigel were using to gun down all of the champions in their hey day?

but of course, a Danny Janes Joss cue.

I bought it purely for nostalgia...and I do love it!

Ol' Mikey and Nick were using Joss cues. They're featured in the 89 catalogue and price sheet I'm including with the cue!

yeah, I know how it is about those old Joss cues,,,,,,,,,,,just bought one from the late 69s or early 70s with an ivory joint. Dont know why, was buying a Gus Szamboti at the time and got all caught up in the cues

Ok...

I have found a cue that I really want. I want it bad enough to part with this cue. Pics are in this thread (scroll up). First $1000 gets it. Detailed info in the original post. PM me if interested. PAYPAL gladly accepted (but it must clear my account before I ship; understandably)! Free shipping to anywhere in the U.S.

Since you ended your auction early with "The seller ended this listing early because the item is no longer available for sale." I wouldn't give you a nickel for it. Guys that pull auctions then try to sell elsewhere should have their scrotums removed.

You first wanted $1400, then you put it on ebay saying you would accept $850, then you took it off ebay, and now want $1000..My head is spinning.

Oh man, the attacks begin.

Yes, I did open it up for $850. After all of the question and watchers I thought it would make at least $1000 so that is what I'm asking. I took it down because I had second thoughts and was going to keep it. Then another cue came available so it is for sale again. No harm, no foul. I have a strong ebay feedback rating (100% on very expensive items). If you're not satisfied, you get your money back. Period!

What is wrong the reason "the seller ended this auction early because it is no longer available for sale"? I put it on here first. There was no interest. I put it on ebay, and there was quite a bit of interest. So now...the first $1000 gets it. There is no shadiness going on here. If it doesn't sell, I'll put it back on ebay with an opening bid of $1000. If it doesn't sell there...then I'll drop the opening price back to $850 and hope to break even. That is what I paid for it (which I felt was a good deal). I don't think asking a $150 profit is very greedy, do you?

If there are any other questions, let me know.

Dude, that is the definition of shady, if you auction a cue be prepared to sell it at your reserve/opening bid or DON'T AUCTION IT!

Ending an auction because it didn't go as high as you'd like is shitty. It doesn't matter what your feedback rating is, you showed your ass here and to me you're all worm.

Well, I changed my mind. So sue me. Then I saw a Showman cue on the cueaddicts website which I love so I decided to go through with it and try it again. There were NO bids when I took it down. There were about 40 people emailing me about it, so I know there was interest. In fact, I had conversation with a friend on here about WHY I was taking it down. It was nothing to do with the price because I KNOW it would and WILL sell if I put it on ebay.

Now, I've dealt with several people on here. I sold Chris Tate (Palmercollector) a cue, and I think he will vouch for my integrity. He wasn't happy with the cue at ALL (and I stress...at ALL) and I "immediately" gave him a full refund leaving it at his discretion to send the cue back. He ended up feeling like he could use it for parts and send me an amount we were both happy with.

I've been friends with Don Purdy for YEARS and he can vouch for me. Other than that I really don't know anyone on here..but none the less. I'm not some flame war guy - so you're barking up the wrong tree with your comments.

Now..you have all of 28 posts or so. Who are you and why do feel like anything you say matters to me? You think I'd sell it to you anyway?

If you got any heart or game you can come on down to Alexandria VA and post your money against the cue, and trust me you will have all of the competition in me that you can handle. Put up or SHUT UP I always say.

Can you hear me now??
