1992 bebot bautista Cue

this cue was made in 1992. we were surprised when the owner brought this one in the shop for re-finishing. cue is still straight as ever, linen wrap still tight & intact, still solidly built with no loose parts or whatever. bebot reminisced the time when he made this cue, chatting over a cup of coffee, he told me that he made this cue without a lathe. i almost choked on my coffee as i was sipping when he mentioned it.

you will be amazed that before cuemakers here in Philippines just use a carpenter's planer or katam in filipino http://tl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katam

They just use this tool to make woods round and then sand.

i didn't get the thorough details but i will try to get some more information when i get the chance to chat with the cuemaker. yes, you're right dgem, the first cuemakers here use planer and sanding - and a great deal of skill.
