A real player.

Very very very rare blank.
WOW! What a historied cue.Purdman said:Here is part of the history Joey.
Well Tuna and Ismael grew up together playing pool at hard times in california. They both contributed to Judd fuller on how to make a better cue. All three of them are very good friends. Ismael still orders cues from Judd. Tuna still lives in Houston where Jim Buss was originally making cues. I would venture to say that he is one of the top 5 players in Houston. And there are some GOOD players in houston. There is Jeremy Jones, Charlie bryant (Hillbilly), David guiterrez, Rick Vargas, and a bunch of others. And I would put Tuna up there with them all. He can go toe to toe with anyone out there. He beat a really good player from Victoria...Sam Manoale, then stomped on Sylver Ochoa, and beat a bunch of solid players on his trip down here for the big tournament weekend. Oh and you'll never see him coming, he doesn't speak too good english and he's about 5 foot nothing, and is a little chubby guy. If you see a guy that resembles him in your town, call out "tuna" and if he turns aroud.......Don't play him!!! Well That cue has a lot of history behind it, it belonged to a great player and now belongs to a great guy. I hope you enjoy that cue as much as I did, and if you want to know anything else just PM me and I'll answer all your questions to the best of my ability.
I wonder if Tuna's old friend named Smiley is still around the SOCAL area? He was one of the first players to have huslted me when I moved to Cali in 1988.JoeyInCali said:WOW! What a historied cue.
Jim Buss used to drive around here selling his sneakies for $75, supposedly.![]()
Which Ismael? Not Ismael Morro Paez?
I hear Tuna stories at HT once in a while.
Boy, the days of glory at Hard Times. I only started seeing the action there in 95. Even then they had a ton of action.
Now, mostly knits and lowlifes play there unless some of the pros and Efren are in town.![]()
There's not much action here really. Sad.

I sure miss the days at HardTimes as well. I used to see Tuna and Smiley on almost a daily basis.

finished in Sept of 2000 - out of a rosewood titlist butt - came with an ivory joint , ivory buttcap and ivory ferrules and some ivory inlays too. Has custom matching joint protectors with ivory tops made my Jim also. this cue plays great...Jim Buss is an awesome cuemaker and I think underappreciated.
Thanks for sharing your cue with us Purdman.
