1999 - 2 World Champions?

thought perhaps some of you posters might remember 1999. am i mistaken, or was there two (2) world championships that year? seems like i recall both Efren Reyes and Nick Varner being referred to as World Champion that year.

anybody remember whats up with this?
or am i missing something here?

Both got out of position frequently back then and whined and then posted here for our all-knowing advice. I helped ER with pasting the Wei tables of course. Nick did his own but whined about being out of position nonetheless. Advice rendered = they became world champions.

To answer your question, I think there were two different world championship tournaments. Efren won the WPC's in Wales I believe. Varner's was under a different sanctioning body I think.

Don't know the reason but there are 2 Champions shown for 1999 at the WPA (World Pool-Billiards Association) Website.
