2 Aiming/Sighting Issues

I think my aim is pretty good for pocketing balls, but I have a tough time sending an OB to a spot on a rail near a pocket. If the 8 ball is near a pocket and in the way for one of my last shots, and I have a chance to bump it out early, I go for the chance. However, my arm reminds me that the pocket is a little left or right of my aim and compensates for me during the final stroke. I'm so used to shooting balls into pockets, it is not easy for me to miss a pocket intentionally for a bump. When I get to the poolhall next time, I'm going to work on this by sending my ob off of balls in the middle of the table, and eventually moving my carom ball closer to the pockets to work on the bump out. Any thoughts on this issue?

Also, I do not do well shooting my cueball past interfering balls that look like they should be out of the way by a hair. I usually knick the obstructing ball. I think I tentatively stroke these shots and steer, but I haven't been able to work past this issue. Any ideas on verifying whether a ball is obstructing and/or shooting past balls that are within an 1/8 or so of the cue ball path would be helpful.

I have the same problem here, the objectball sorta gets in your eye view. The way that helped me was practice these shots, set up a cut shot and place two balls on opposite sides of the line to the pocket. Not str8 across you know like a foot apart away, one ball on each side and practice. Plus tight pockets also help. I tell you now when i have shots like this its like the objectball ain't even there. I believe that if you been playing for awhile and know how to make balls, whether you go by feel or have a aiming system. If you do miss it is more likely due to alignment or stroke flaw.

ball in your path (or not)

A friend of mine always says: if you have to look at it more than once, it passes. It's a great theory if you think about long enough:thumbup:. I sometimes have this problem also, in practice I notice that sometimes durring my release my eyes quickly shifts to the obstructing ball just to see if the cue ball will pass. Everytime without fail when there's a slight shift of the eyes it will catch the edge of that obstructing ball. So just like in pocketing, practicing to stay down on the shot and burning your eyes on the object ball only I think is the key to success here.
