Two Dave Kikels have arrived today!๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜€
Enjoy the pics and some description of these cues known as Tribute cues!๐Ÿ˜€

DESERT IRONWOOD
TRIBUTE CUE

One more of the special Tribute cues by Dave Kikel, in homage to the great old-time cuemakers Frank Paradise and Eugene Balmer (Palmer). Like each one in the series, this one is unique in that it uses a different color pearlescent plastic, different colored veneers and is made of different wood. Otherwise, the design and inlay patterns are the same. For more information on these cues, click here: About The Kikel Tribute Cues.

This one starts with a buttsleeve of Desert Ironwood, and points of Desert Ironwood going into a nose of beautiful birdseye maple.

The pearlescent plastic in this cue is a gorgeous gold/orange/yellow swirl that is expertly matched with veneers of black, dark green, light orange and yellow. They are the perfect complement to the overall design.

Completing the color scheme is a very nice black linen wrap with gold specks from Blue Mountain linens. In keeping with the vintage concept, this type of wrap is no longer generally available. I'm glad it was still available for this cue, however, because it's the perfect match.

I love the veneers in this cue. They are bright and colorful, but not overdone. Using them above the pearlescent butt cap, and on the rings above and below the wrap really add a lot of color and brightness to the cue.

As with the other cues in this series, it is built with a piloted stainless steel sleeved joint with a 5/16X14 pin that has the vintage look, but will play more like a flat-faced wood to wood joint. As with other Kikel cues, this one plays great.

Everything about this cue is just right - the inlays are perfect, the colors all complement each other, and the veneers are very sharp and snappy. It's a great cue, and will make someone a unique and interesting playing cue that will hit a ton, or a fine collectible.

This one weighs a total of 19.1 ounces, with the butt weighing 15.0 ounces and each shaft weighing 4.1 ounces. It comes with two 13mm shafts of Dave's top quality shaft wood, tipped with elforyn ferrules and Sumo tips. (Elforyn is an outstanding ferrule material. It plays great, looks like ivory, is moisture resistant and is tough and very durable.)

AFRICAN BLACKWOOD
TRIBUTE CUE

This is another of the series of cues by Dave Kikel that are intended to pay homage to the old cuemakers like Paradise and Palmer. This particular one is made of African Blackwood and birdseye maple. Like the other cues in the series, it's designed to be reminiscent of the old cues, using a stainless steel joint, vintage mother-of-pearl designs, and, of course, the pearlescent plastic.

The plastic in this one is a beautiful green and gold swirl combination. It's expertly matched with veneers of black, light green, dark green and yellow green. As with the other cues in this series, the veneers are repeated as veneer rings above the pearlescent butt cap and below the pearlescent ring.

The cue is finished with a Blue Mountain linen wrap in black with green specks. It's an ideal match. (In keeping with the "vintage" concept, Blue Mountain wraps are no longer generally available.)

The African Blackwood points and butt sleeve really pop when framed with these sharp veneers.

Dave does a great job with these cues by selecting a very traditional "vintage" inlay pattern typical of old Palmers, Paradises, Balabushkas and even Vikings. The mother-of-pearl really stands out against the dark wood.

He uses the same plastic at the joint and on the ring collars of the shafts. He builds these cues with a piloted stainless steel sleeved joint with a 5/16X14 pin that looks like the old vintage cues, but will still hit the way we expect cues to hit today. These cues are great players.

He uses a 5/16X 14 pin to complete the package. The fit of these shafts to the butt is nice and snug. Dave builds his cues so that they are a bit tight to begin with, and always stay nice and tight.

The butt of this cue weighs 15.0 ounces and the shafts weigh 4.1 ounces each, for a total cue weight of 19.1 ounces. It comes with two 13 mm shafts with elforyn ferrules that look much like ivory, are very moisture resistant, durable, and really play well. It's Dave's favorite ivory substitute material. They have Sumo tips.

Davor;

These are a stunning set!:cool:

enjoy, my friend.

Thank you for nice words!๐Ÿ˜€
Can't wait the other two to arrive so I will have all four that were built. Hopefully I will receive them in two weeks.
I was always a big fun of Dave's cues and admire his work and his shaft wood is always highly top notch.

Great cues by, IMO, one of the most undervalued cue makers today. I've owned many of his cues and played in Chicago with a fellow that had 14 of his cues. He felt exactly like I did. Not only that you'll never hear about Dave not delivering on time or screwing any customer. Truly a man of his word and consummate professional.

I am big admirer of Dave's cue regarding the playability, look and precision in building process. Always wanted to owe one of his cues and now I finally have four!๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜‰
