I'm interested to hear more about these 2 shafts with his new taper? I picked up a sugartree at SBE this past march is it safe to assume those shafts will be the same taper as these new ones being made? I'm curious because I was looking to lengthen the taper on one my shafts.. anyway anything you can tell would be appreciated!

Eric has developed a new shaft taper. I do not believe any shafts out there (other than his own) have this taper. I was playing with his personal cue at VF this past year and I LOVED it! It has less of a harsh transition around 12" back from the tip. Unfortunately, his existing shafts can not be re-tapered because there is more wood in front of the 12".

I believe these would have been the first shafts with that new taper. Not that matters too much. IIRC, all new shafts will have this going forward.

In my opinion, I would not change the taper of your existing shaft. When and if you go to sell, you "should" disclose this information because certain people buy Sugartrees because of the taper. By changing the taper - you will change the hit/stiffness.


I appreciate your compliments. I saw your thread in the gallery when you posted it. You should take some outdoor pics and update that thread. You need to do those cues a little more justice...:thumbup:

Thanks for the information! Sounds like a shaft that I would like even more than my current one! I'll have to see if I can get in contact with him to have one made! ( hopefully he's not too busy which is probably just wishful thinking )

just curious what became of the old shaft with the PJ, I am wanting a 2nd shaft for my ST and having trouble getting a hold of Mr Crisp....

This cue has been sold with 3 shafts.

Maybe you should make a post in the wanted/for sale section for a Sugartree shaft.
