2 Rails hard as a rock now?

I have a 7ft Brunswick (Bradford model) that I just had Simonis 860 HR installed.

The guy had me soak the cloth before hand and after the new cloth was installed, now 2 of the rails are hard as a rock? I told them the rails played fine before they starting doing the install. Can anyone tell me what might have happened? I thought that maybe the cloth was pulled too tight? or did the moisture from the damp cloth harden the rubber on those 2 rails? any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks,
Steve

I don't know why your mechanic would wet the cloth before installation. But I doubt that would cause your cushions to get hard. Brunswick cushions are known to harden. Not sure the blame is on your mechanic.

You can mist the cloth for more stretch on the bed cloth...but if you know how to index the cloth.....Glen and Jay show in their DVD.....there's no need to (MIST) the cloth before.
But I've not heard of wetting the rail cloth.
I've not heard of Brunswick cushions going bad or hard since the early 90s.

logic dictates that if the mechanic had done something to alter the actual rubber, it probably would have had an effect on more than just the two rails.

however, the mechanic could have mistakenly clothed the two rails too tight..

or, the mechanic could have incorrectly tightened or adjusted the two suspect rails, causing them to rebound balls weakly, or in strange ways. (are you sure that the rubber is harder?)

fyi - i've personally asked them about it, so i can tell you in all seriousness that simonis does not advise 'soaking' their cloth prior to installation.

IF you live in a desert, [distilled water] misting [only] can help a bit with static and stretching issues. otherwise, moisture and cloth don't mix.
