Hello,

yesterday started this years Youth Pool Worldchampionship in Adelaide/Australia.

I found no way to get any official informations from this event.
There is no webpage and no e-mailcontact in Australia.
I just no some results from our german players.
Is there anybody in the states who is in contact with the managers from the US-Team? Maybe he could poste some information here in the forum.

greets
Christophe

True, no website (shame on you WPA !). Only thing I know is our own Finland's Tero Pekonen has beaten Futrell (USA) in his first match 9-7 and then lost to Albin Ouschan 9-2 (darn !).

Wow! Is that the brother of Jasmine Ouschan?

He must be young ans a future world champion as well...

I have some information from our german player Nico Ottermann.

Albin Ouschan (Austria), Marco Schmidt (Germany) and Matheusz Sniegocki (Poland) all are in the round before quarterfinal.
The last 16 players play single-elimination.
Nico Ottermann (reigning german 8-ball champion) plays tomorrow vs. Tyler Strawn for going to the last 16 players.
Grech (Poland), Pekonen (Finland) and Asperup (Denmark) are still in the tournament on the loosers side. They all play tomorrow.

I send a mail this morning to Mr. Ian Anderson, and Nico told me that Ian is in Adelaide. So maybe he can do something for our information.
There is no chance to get in the www. for the players in the hotel.
All information I get by phone.......

Gremlin, WPA site has listed many Australian associations, but seems they don't have any websites (?). World championships without internet coverage is a shame...

Pigi, yes he is a brother of Jasmin Ouschan... Jasmin is hot :p

I think their father has competed in senior division so I think they are quite a skillful pool family...

He is 14 years old and he plays very very good.

@mjantti
the father of both plays seniors in europe, and they have a big pool room in austria. 2005 Youth World Pool Championship will be there in Austria.

Thanks for the info, CCC ! Keep 'em coming ! Btw, I wonder if the Taiwanese wonder kid Chia-Ching Wu is playing ? He's only 15 years old, and finished L64 this year at the WPC. Seen a couple of his matches... he is really impressive !

Nico Ottermann played WU in the first round.
WU run out the first six racks, then he had no break, Nico run out the game and had also no break, and WU made the last 3 racks......

Wu is phenomenal ! Too bad for Nico, not much chance there... hard to win matches if you get only one visit to the table

Uh-oh, I just noticed that Jasmin is very young!. I am feelin a bit creepy...!

Now, where's that Sarah Ellerby- she's gotta be at least 21...!!!

-pigg :o

Piglit, Jasmin is 18 years old. Yes she is hot but she also has a mean game to go with that pretty face, I've been following her for about 3 years now and am still amazed at how she's racked up all the European titles she has won. Definitely a bright future for her.

Final 8 is:

Chia-Ching WU (ROC) vs. Marco Schmidt (GER)
Morra (CAN) vs. Hijikata (JPN)
A. Ouschan (Austria) vs. J. Klatt(CAN)
Ottermann (GER) vs. Sniegocki (POL) or Yu-Lun WU(ROC)

Wu was leading 7-5 last I heard. That WPA website seems to be very slowly updated. 2 canadians in final 8 is pretty nice.

Two Canadians in the final eight IS pretty impressive.

A. Ouschan must have really picked up his nine ball game, I knew he was a great 14.1 player but I never knew he was world class with his nine ball as well.

Celtic, you better go watch it because there aint many tournaments like this in Australia, probably the most pool players you've seen since you moved there LOL!
