2004 World Pool Youth Championship

Chia-Ching WU (ROC) vs. Marco Schmidt (GER)

Wu, 11-0. Supposedly he went off and owned him with lots of runs, Wu is supposedly the HEAVY favorite in this and shoots top pro level pool at 15. I was late and missed this match.

Morra (CAN) vs. Hijikata (JPN)

Morra, 11-10. Decent match, both quality players, alot of luck in this matchup though and the last game saw a pretty unlucky stratch at 10-10 that let Morra in.

A. Ouschan (Austria) vs. J. Klatt(CAN)

Ouschan 11-3 I think it was. Klatt missed quite afew chances to get games and had a couple shots burn him with bad rolls, he seemed pretty down on himself right from the start. Ouschan shot solid 9-ball and did not miss much.

Ottermann (GER) vs. Sniegocki (POL) or Yu-Lun WU(ROC)

Yu-Lun crushed Ottermann. 11-3. Yu-Lun breaks like a sledgehammer and shoots awesome. He missed 1 ball in the entire match and broke and ran a ton of racks. This kid shoots lights out, future pro for sure.

My predictions for the finals.

All China. With Chia-Ching supposedly putting 5 packs out on people with ease and losing a total of 5 games in ALL of his matches so far combined I dont think Morra has a hope. Yu-Lun also is my strong favorite to beat Ouschan. Both of these players play a smart and emotion free game of pool but Yu-Lun has a WAY better break and shoots a stronger game. Yu-Lun can put out alot of racks from what I saw.

Finals, Wu vs Wu, I like Wu in this match. Seriously, I did not see Chia-Ching shoot, and he is supposedly a phenom and future world champ already playing pro level pool at nearly a Yang/Reyes level. I guess that makes him the favorite but Yu-Lun has the game that he could beat ANYONE in a race to 11 from what I saw, he breaks and runs the balls that good. Should be a great finals, I am almost sure the two Chinese players will get through, at 15 years old they have a mentality at the table of business, no emotion, something you dont see in players that age in America and see only at the top pro ranks from players like Archer, Souquet, ect... American kids are gonna need to figure it out to keep up to this new breed of 15 year old seasoned pros.

Taiwan not China

Thanks for your information. But ROC is "Taiwan" not "China", they are different. :D

Thanks for the report, Celtic. Keep 'em coming !!

Agreed, Wu's will surely occupy the final spots, but I guess the final will go either way with Chia-Ching a slight favourite. But, in 9-ball anything is possible...

Yes, ROC stands for Republic of China = Taiwan :) Especially Taiwanese want to make this clear :p

Thanks for the report Celtic, I'm still amazed at what these KIDS are doing, running five or six racks in succession every match, hard to believe their still only teenagers

P.S. I sent you a PM Celtic.

Morra (is that Mario's son?) lost in the final 16 from what the web site says, Klatt looks tobe the only Canadian(the draw sheets say the opposite). Congrats to the Canadian girl for getting there, I think she's from Nova Scotia does anybody know.

The website is wrong. Morra got smoked by Chia-Ching today. Chia won the lag, broke in the 9 game 1, second game he makes a ball on the break, misses a tough 1 ball in the side, Morra misses a long 1 in the corner, and the next time Morra got to the table it was 8-0 for Chia, he put a 6 pack on him after running the second game. End score was 11-2, Morra made a couple nice runs late to get his couple wins.

Ouschan did not fair alot better against Yu-Lun. end score was 11-4 or something like that. First two games saw nice runouts by both players but Yu-Lun slowly took control of the match with his crushing break and ALOT of runouts. Yu-Lun has the best break in the whole field, better then Chia's break but Chia plays a much more professional style shape system and is in alot more control at the table. Chia is one of those players that makes the game look real easy as he never gets in trouble and always has the right angle. You really could not say a Bustamente type player is offensively stronger then Chia, all I saw a difference in was in the safety area of the game. Chia would dominate something like the Joss tour already at 15 years old and has the skills to win a US Open calibre event already.

The finals should be awesome, I wont be there to see them as I have a wreck diving course. I would say the finals would make Chia a slight favorite but it should be close as his break gives up something to Yu-Lun. The score may not show how close these players really are because they both have so much offensive power that either one can keep a opponent in their chair.

Yes, he is Mario's son and his mother is Anita (Canadian Women's Snooker Champion and she also won the Canadian Women's 9 Ball Championship a couple of times)

Don't know much about the other Canadian...

Yu-Lun WU is the new Youth World Champion.
He beats his other chinese taipeh player Chia-Ching WU.

First girls World Champion is Meng-Meng Zouh, also from Chines Taipeh.
She beats Jasmin Ouschan from Austria in the finals.

Congratulations to Yu Lun Wu and Meng-Meng Zouh on their impressive victories.

Hi Kyle, Yes the canadian girl ( Jessica) just turned 15 and is from Nova Scotia.

Just a correction. Meng-Meng Zouh is actually from China, not Taiwan. She is, however, coached by a well known Taiwanese pool coach.
