2007 event format

Melissa:

Will the WPBA be using the same format as 2006...the last 16 single elimination or are they going back to straight double knockout...???

Am thinking about going to Michigan City now that Peoria is out...and am wondering about Saturdays schedule...as that used to be the best day and night with all the pressure on the players to get to Sunday..

With the newer format there are fewer matches on Saturday's ...

I apologize for the delay in responding. I read this back when you first posted...and I could have sworn I posted a reply....but I guess not! Just goes to show you where my head is at during the holiday season. I love Christmas...but I get so incredibly busy that I can't even think straight or take a breath until January 2nd.

The WPBA will be using the same format as last year...the single elimination for the final 16. Michigan City is a nice venue...but unfortunately they do not have the piano in the lobby like Peoria...so no late-night sing-alongs! Hope to see you there!

I , for one, am disappointed. It just seems to me to be such an abberation from a "normal" tournament".

Too bad because Alice Rim tickles the ivories very well. On a dare, she challenged me to warble a sad version of Desperado if I were there next year. Thank goodness the torney is cancelled. :D

Mich. City and NC are out of the question for us due to prior commitments. With Peoria meeting a very sad demise our only hope would be RI or TBA

Well, since we have used this format for a whole year...it is fast becoming the "norm"...so we'll have to deal with it for another year. I would also like to go back to the standard double elimination...as it is just more fair to the players.

I am looking forward to the RI event. From what I hear, they are very excited to have us there...and they are planning to "do it up right"! As far as TBA...I think an event in Oklahoma is in the works. I know it isn't definite yet....but that would be great. As we all know, OK is home to a great population of pool lovers/players....and they have bred some of the greatest! Maybe whatever is in the water over there will create some fantastic matches for the fans!

I believe, I will go to Michigan City...really my only hope...

I hope your new president all the luck in the world...I like the idea of a non-playing President...I also hope that she has more then one year to turn things around...

BTW - is there any hotels near to the venue..????...don't really want to stay at the Casino...
