2012 MO State 9 Ball Amateur Tourney

Aaron, thanks for the bracket posting. You were the only one of the top four finishers last year that played this year. Brandon and I couldn't take the no smoking situation. And of course Jarrid is riding out his ban.

That ban makes no sense at all to me.

I'm with you on the ban, rich. But Phil firmly believes it is the reason for the tournament (the longest running amateur tourney in the country apparently) carrying on for so long. Perhaps he is right, but I personally think that the races to 6 and round robin stages introduce enough randomness into the equation to keep anybody from dominating it. I have seen Andy Quinn miss the first cut before and how many swings has chuck raulston taken at it now? Those guys are complete monsters so if it can happen to them...

I will try to remember to take some pictures of the cue tonight and post them. Jarrid Easton (sp?) was the champ last year. He will be eligible again in 2016.

I don't think there is any guarantee or even much of a chance of any one person dominating that tournament. There are enough strong players involved that somebody is going to have a good day or two, and that somebody may be capable of holding their own or winning against anyone at those times. Even old men can sometimes pull off surprises. ( if they're allowed to smoke  )

Look forward to seeing the cue and please give your opinion of that fellow's work. I had never heard of him.

Unless you are 60 or older, then the ban does not apply. I found that out after taking 2nd last year. I don't know if it would have mattered or not so far as the outcome. Doubtful, as I was completely spent after that tourney.

Just how many people have 2010 trophies? for years other than 2010?

If you win in 2012
u r banned 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017
and return in 2018???:p:p:p:p

Phil said I would be eligible again in 2017, so the ban must be for 5 calendar years, not 5 tournaments. I also understood him to say that the ban was lifted at age 50, but I was a bit tired and distracted at the time, so I may have misheard.

AFAIK, it was just the 2010 and 2011 trophies that said 2010 on them. The issue with 2012 trophies was different, and I'm not going to get into it. The 1st and 4th place trophies were perfectly fine, BTW.

Also, I know I said I would post pics of the cue, but I have decided to not do that after all. I literally lost sleep over whether or not to post the pics, and in the end I just decided to say that I will email pics to whoever would like to pm me their email address. Mr. Webster is a very nice gentleman - he played in the tournament (was in my flight Sat. morning), and sweated 12-15 hours of pool on Sunday so he could personally present the cue to the winner. It was a very nice gesture, and the cue will remain on display in my home room as a memento and conversation piece.

Banned...in the USA!!!

LMFAO!!! Fellas if I personally EVER win this darned thing they can ban me for LIFE 'cause I'm going into FULLLLLLLL RETIREMENT and giving my cue away about half a second after nailin' that final ball!

Hopefully this whole 2012 End of the World crap will turn out to be bogus and I'll still be gunnin' for the title come next year! If not, oh well, we'll all be toasted anyway so it won't matter!

See ya next year my fellow champion wannabes!

I'll take a hand span now aaron......good job...coming to olathe?

LOL, thanks Kyle. Doubt I will be at Olathe. My wife sweated about 25 hours of pool last weekend - I don't really know what would happen if I told her I was playing in another tournament soon, but I know that I don't want to find out.
