2014 World 9-Ball Championship

lol I'm the monkey, I mentioned Chang and bang there he is lol.
Chang is a world champion, finish in top 5 of almost every tourney he entered, so he's far more than "capable" of winning against anyone :p, Shane is no favorite here. I'd say it's a true coin-flip

Wow, that's a lot. Maybe he was trying to throw efren off with his chalking, is asking to have the cue ball cleaned that many times a way of saying you chalk too much? So your opponent would be thinking about his repeated chalking before the shot? Or was it a clear stalling tactic that should have been called on by the ref to negate a shot clock?

Apparently Karl posted (Facebook?) that there was a kick (skid) early in the match, so he was taking no chances thereafter.

Boyes asked the ref to clean the cueball on about every other shot. Ok, that's probably a slight exaggeration, but it seemed like just about every other shot.

There should be a number for how many times you're allowed to ask for the cue ball to be cleaned.

As A Reminder:

The start time tomorrow for the Knock Out is 11AM Local (1AM PST/4AM EST) .. I'd hate for anyone to miss out on any action

all you pool fans in America should sleep now with me (1AM, Manila time) so we could all watch and cheer for our players tomorrow.

He requested the ref to clean the CB like 15 times, more or less. I lost count after 10

It would be British snooker experience that gives Boyes a penchant for
having the cue-ball cleaned......snooker players hate 'kicks'.

Pool players will complain about a 'skid' just as much as the snooker players....
....but fewer pool players seem to want to do anything about it.

I doubt that Efren minded the fussiness of Boyes....they are very positive people...
....both their surnames end in YES

:DSo is Boyes going to request for the ball to be cleaned 20 to 25 times during his next matches? I stopped counting at 15 :boring2::boring2:

Here are the tournament wins of Chang Jun Lin listed on AzB:

"There should be a number for how many times you're allowed to ask for the cue ball to be cleaned."

This having the cue ball cleaned repeatedly not only delays the match, but can be used to stall especially when the players are on a shot clock in a pressure situation.
Also it can be used to keep their opponent to keep them in their chair longer when it's not their turn or to throw an opponent off.
I've seen many matches where when an opponent is down (or up for that matter) they will slow the pace down to a snails pace to throw their opponent off or keep them out of stroke.
The same reason they only allow so many breaks to be taken by each opponent during a match. They also designate when you are allowed to take a break for some of the same reasons.

Limit the number because it makes sense to.

No disrespect intended, but Karl was having the cueball cleaned many times before that skid. I'm wondering if all that cleaning led to the skid. And yes, it was as bad of a skid as you can ever see.

Karl shot amazingly. I think he had a three or four pack on his break.

Yes, Karl had 4 B&R's -- Games 3, 7, 9, and 11.

I consider CB cleaning a sharking move, not that Efren cares, but when done repeatedly, the opponent starts wondering why this guy is asking for cleaning that often, and will at one point or another account for a throw when none needed, and miss, very clever legal move. Also, it changes CB condition, which could cause errors

I agree. Up to 5 times is OK but to request to have the ball cleaned almost each freaking time it is your turn is ridiculous. It ruins the momentum of the game and is unfair to your opponent. He'll be lucky not to have things thrown at him from the viewing public if Mr. Clean does that again.
