I've noticed over the years that commentators are using the phrase, "race to" vs "best of" more often now.
I wonder if they were told to do this to appeal to a wider audience.

I've noticed over the years that commentators are using the phrase, "race to" vs "best of" more often now.
I wonder if they were told to do this to appeal to a wider audience.
Its very possible, in American Pool commentary (e.g. the Mosconi Cup) even if the commentators are European they almost always us US terms (e.g. hooked instead of snookered or bank instead of double).
Its pretty plausible that in order to appeal to the US and Asia (where US English is far more common than British English) they are intentionally adopting US terms.
That said, it could just be subconscious, US English is more widely spoken so when travelling and talking to more people about the game they probably come into contact with others using US terms and simply end up using them without thinking.
Agree. Gotta say the FB stream has been perfect since the start.

Apparently the video released to the public was heavily edited to make it look like he was guilty.
The WPBSA banned him for failing to report the approach (as opposed to actually match fixing), he was cleared of match fixing itself.
The suggestion was that his manager at the time effectively gave him a hospital pass and didn't tell him what the meeting was about until he was about to go in, at which point he didn't want to say no to a couple of mobsters!!!
Who knows what the actual truth is, but he served his ban for failing to tell the WPBSA and that was that!
