2021 US pool championship tables?

I had a Matchroom pool video of the final matches of 2021. One was the US pool championship, the table looked like a Diamond Pro-Am but it was drop pocket. Anyone else notice that?

Here is the video I'm talking about. The table I'm talking about starts at the 21:44 mark or so.

They probably just use something to block the balls from going into the gulley. Some people use big carwash-style sponges to block off the return.

I thought that ball return or not was an option on all Diamond 9-foots. I suspect Matchroom didn't want the noise of the ball return.

I stand corrected. Contacted Chad at D'mond and he said dp's ARE an option on pro-ams. He said MR didn't want ball-return noise on the stream.

Good to know. I wonder what the difference in pricing would be? I would think drop pockets would be cheaper to make.

This was talked about some time ago when I said my friend has a drop pocket ProAm and everyone said it was a one off and they don’t make them that way

Diamond just msg'd me on this. Drop pockets are available on the 9ft ProAm and its a $350 upcharge.

Who were you in contact with? I had emailed them as well and Aaron Berger replied that the pro-am was ball return only.

All you do on the pro am is take the gully tracks out of the pocket openings on the cabinet and the new drop pockets bolt right in like the regular pockets.... match room has a super sensitive microphone attached to the bottom of the table and it could hear the balls rolling inside the table ..that's the modification I did on the mosconi cup tv table when I was setting it up with Diamond...with the giant tile sponges you don't have to remove the gully's to make a place for the basket to hang, you just push the sponge down further if you want more space for more balls ..easy upgrade to any pro am ....

How much of the table needs to be disassembled to pull they gully track out to put the drop pockets in? Do you just use drop pockets from a professional? What other mods are needed?

Carwash sponges are cheap and easy.

Unbolt the railset and lift it off...pull the Staples out that are holding in the gully return pieces..pull the six gullies out... those are the 3 foot plastic pieces that connect the pockets to the center collector...you can lay those inside the table for storage....then put the new pockets in the railset that you already took off...the old system your replacing - the ball return pocket...is made up of two parts....part one-the top leather pocket and liners are attached to the railset that comes off ......part two- the gully and basket portion are built into the table...the new drop pockets have the leather pocket and liner same as part one but they also have a nylon basket sewn onto them that holds around 10 balls or more that replaces the ball return...hope that makes sense....
