Does anyone know what the 2022 rules are. Racking, breaking, slop........
Did you watch this year's event? Count on the same.I was searching for them because I'm gonna play in the 2022 us open and would like to know how to practice.
The break, 1 on spot or 9? Break zone? How many balls need to come back into kitchen?
It changed from 2019 to 2021. It hasn't stayed the same more than a couple of years in a row at any time. I don't think it would ever make sense to assume it wouldn't change.Did you watch this year's event? Count on the same.
Thank you for your advise and not giving me a hard time. I've been practicing both ways.It changed from 2019 to 2021. It hasn't stayed the same more than a couple of years in a row at any time. I don't think it would ever make sense to assume it wouldn't change.
That said, I don't know that MR has made any official announcements yet. I don't think they'll commit to anything until they open registration. Just my guess. Until then I'd prepare for both the 1 on the spot and the 9 on the spot. But I doubt you'll see a break box or a 3 point rule. Emily has said the 3 point rule is too confusing for a wide audience, and I haven't seen the break box used for a while. Make sure you practice a medium-firm hit, they don't allow soft breaks.
If the balls are a different color than normal in 2022, you might consider getting a set of the same balls that will be used to practice with beforehand.
IIRC, in 2021 the 5 ball was similar in color to a normal 4 ball and I heard a lot of the players bemoaning the fact that they had to constantly remind themselves to play shape for the correct ball.
