2025 Seattle Open

MR/WNT really needs a 'feeder' tour for players like those making up most of this field. Limit it to 740-750 and under. Kinda like AAA baseball but for pool.

like all pool tournaments.
there are lawn mowers and grass. the lawn mowers mow down all the grass.

unless it changes, only fools will enter tournaments that aren't handicapped fairly.

luckily there are many fools with good intentions, but wishful thinking.

If you love the game you play the game. This is one of the few sports that you can play with a Pro and learn from a Pro. Its a good time to get to know those guys and for the ones that are willing get tips. I've watched many of them play $20 sets with the locals and coach them, give them information about the game and instructions on how to improve.

Only fools think they can improve their game by playing low level players or only playing players that play their speed all the time, NEVER going to happen! You'll be playing the same speed years from now that you play today.

any decent instructor will help you more than a pro who likely just happened to get great because of ability. not knowledge or teaching skills to help you.

unless you are getting instruction or having someone talk you through his shots, just playing someone good is not going to help you much.

I don’t want to watch handicapped matches, and if I we’re good enough to enter a tournament like this, I wouldn’t want to play with one.

The entry fee is $200. Small pittance for most local players. They know what they are getting into.

this is a small mindset. A lot of these players probably feel it’s $200 well spent despite their chances of cashing in the tournament. They’re out there doing what they love against high level competition and maybe that’s the nuts for them

all true the last two posts.

it works fine for those that only can or will only pay a smaller entry fee, and for those knowing they have no chance.

but how do those things make a tournament or the sport grow.

and handicapped races were just a suggested way to make it more even. there are other ways.
and who wants to sit and watch blow out matches with a great player playing someone with no chance. i don't.

I would like to believe the so called dead money players provide the necessary number of participants to allow these tournaments to continue. If the trnmnts do continue hopefully they attract more players and more viewers/ supporters. If such growth continues i believe the level of play will increase as the money could get right.

I applaud those who support these events.

Totally agree with your last statement….I wouldn’t want to watch any blow out match by any chance. But I would love to play against any player 800+…. Winning 2-3 racks against an 800+ player would give me so much hope and determination to get back to the practice table and keep working on my game… Those little motivators are what keeps the addiction going !

want better then go down to an action poolroom where good players hang. you likely can find one to play you even for 5 or ten a game and talk his way through the shots. your 100 bucks there would help alot more,

and you wont win 2 or 3 racks against an 800 you most likely will win none and not even get to shoot at a very make about shot.

Tremendous final. Jonas Soutino beats Sky Woodward 13-12. One of the best matches I’ve seen this year.

Sky fell behind 4-0, took a 8-4 lead, then Jonas went up 9-8. Back and forth till the end.

Jonas has made big progress the past year or so. Definitely one to watch on the WNT tour.

Sky was terrific btw. Just a touch too aggressive at times.
