The 19 year wait is over for my 2 Southwest cues. Me and Nick Varner went to the Southwest shop June of 2006 while we were in town for the IPT North American Championships at the Venetian Casino in Las Vegas.
It sounds crazy but now that I got them I can really see why they are wanted worldwide by so many players and collectors. .

Really nice cues.
Laurie Franklin makes sure to deliver QUALITY!
ENJOY

Very nice looking cues, congrats! That ebony in particular is quite the stunner!

I got on the list in 2014 so I have a ways to go yet, but did get a Satin a couple years back so I’ve finally had a taste of the South West magic

ROFL

That is an insane for wait time and we also don't know who made the cue unless Laurie continued on with the tradition and I heard she doesn't build them. So over the course of 19 years, lets say, they may have gone through many cue makers and helpers. Why isn't their cue master known? Surely, he could have branched off and made his own cues.

Kind of like how Vollmer worked under Tony and various cue makers who came up the ranks and want to get recognition.

What era and who is/are building these cues?

They look nice and glad everyone is happy with the purchases. Is one of them Nick's? I like the blue, it gives the cue a more modern look.

Mickey has been at Southwest for a very long time and he makes the cues. He is a very talented cue maker and obviously one of the best out there.

I joked with a friend and emailed them to put me on the list a long long time ago. It would be crazy if they one day said I was next up.

Thank you.

The reason why I asked is so the person can get recognition as the head guy for one of the most desired cues brands in the world.

That is how lists work, so as long as they acknowledged your email and it’s still valid, then yeah that’ll happen one day. No clue why that would “be crazy”, kinda how it works.

Well its been a long ass time and I forgot about it. It may have been done on my college email.

I'm assuming its a one man show. I mean its real slow. Slower than slow. The cues are good but my goodness that is a long ass time. Almost a generation.

If they are only making 25 cues a year and they are 200 cues behind it’s probably easy math.
Let's say that they work on a cue once a month for an hour, so after the first batch of cues is out and assuming that they work 8 hours a day, they should be putting out 8 cues a day. Working 5 days a week will put out about 10,000 cues a year. Let's say that 50% are scrapped and rebuilt, still 5000 cues a year; let's say that they work 5 hours on a cue once a month; that's still 1000 cues a year.

Putting out just 25 cues a year means that it's just a side gig and that it's a way to raise the price. As long as people are that stupid to wait for a cue that long and there is a list, then one can calculate the cue price to make a living by selling only 25 a year and not working that hard in life – sweet deal for them...

Exotic cars take less time to make.

That would be mass production and no longer a custom made cue. They are more concerned about quality not quantity. This is why they charge a premium and are wanted by many players and collectors around the world.
I guess you’re saying I’m a sucker?
Well I’d be a sucker again as often as they would let me.

It is a scam. The business model that is and some will argue the cues are too.

To add, if they are making 25 cues a year which means 2 per month. Each cue retails for around lets say 5k. They are making 10k per month doing this forever. Easy 6 figures.

No other company does this and there are a lot of great cue makers.

They somehow got people to believe this and if one day you get the phone call or email....it sort of forces you to buy it since you've been waiting for so long. I would probably buy one if they email me one day saying I'm up next.
