$25 for a piece of chalk is ridiculous!

agreed

Ding ding ding...and we have a winner!

I was waiting for this answer. There are so many threads on AZ complaining about $1 bottled water, raising the bar box price from 50 cents to 75 cents, repair prices, etc etc etc. I never really understood why if someone wants to spend his personal money on something, everyone feels the need to jump in and condemn him. Whether that is paying $800 for a sneaky pete or $25 for a piece of chalk. If you enjoy your hobby and you spend your own money on it; why does everyone get so upset? Jealousy? Anger at Lindsey Lohan? Alien mind control? Kim Kardashian's divorce?

I'm sure most people in the world spend money on things that others would find frivolous. Most Americans do for sure. Pool has enough negativity without worrying about $25 chalk. If someone comes up with $1000 chalk and someone else wants to try it, how about being happy for them? Prolly too much to ask?

When I first got into the game I spent what I thought was a lot of money on a Viking cue in Fairfield, Ca. I was in the Navy and didn't have a lot of disposable income, but I loved the game. I later bought a Meucci after transferring to Norfolk.
One of my Navy buddies was obsessed with bass fishing. When I expressed shock at what he spent on his gear, he asked, "What did you pay for your pool cues?"
End of conversation right there.
To each his own.
