Joey is 1/2 right
Isn't that tap 9MM 1.25 ?
That's not bad, better than being totally wrong, Lol.
A little insight for a better understanding.
1mm = .03937"
9mm = .35433"
I grind these taps to .359/.360 to allow for clearance.
As far as the pitch, metric taps have their pitch stated differently than SAE/American taps do. We measure pitch by threads per inch, TPI.
Metric tap pitch is measured by the distance btwn points/peaks of the threads (1mm, 1.25mm, 1.5mm, etc.). The CueTec pin is a true 14 TPI.
The closest to that in a true metric would be a 1.75mm. Mute point anyway because it's the wrong pitch by several thousandths.
A 9mm tap is not easy to come by but they do exist. I have a 9mm x 1.25 but it is way too fine for the CueTec. I've never seen a 9mm x 1.75 tap.
The CueTec is a real odd-ball in that it utilizes an American/SAE pitch with a metric diameter. This one boys & girls is a true bastard, though CueTec might refer to it as a 'hybrid'. Lol
Armed with the knowledge that I have just shared with you, you should be able to make this tap for yourself. 3/8x14 taps are readily available if you know where to look. I'm not looking to make a career of grinding custom taps but if for whatever reason you would rather have me provide a CueTec tap for you, I will continue to do so.
