OK, pop quiz hot shots... 3-balls racked on the foot spot. How would you approach the break? straight at the pack, one rail into the side, or two rails into the back? Remember the object is to sink all the ball with the least number of shots (break counting as one)!

I start about 8 inches to the right of the headspot and hit the head ball just a hair to the right of full. Trying for the ball to my left 4 rails in the corner.

I break from about 3 inches to the right, try to get one ball going in the corner, and usually have one of the three going at the side. Usually close at least to making a ball.

Play with what works for you.

3 ball break

i used to play this alot at the local vfw after the 8 ball tournament was over. great game, lot of fun. won $102 one nite with a two. $1 anty
i break from far left at head string with low right just between head ball and second ball, softly, which throws third ball into right corner and head ball just in front of right side pocket, second ball lays near right corner also. i've made the right corner ball on break a lot on an eight foot table. can't seem to get it to go on a 9 footer.

I've been playing around with this ever since the first post. I'm having much more luck with the 4 rail shot than I am with what stix4sale is describing.

I don't know how you play

but 3 ball here is played where all the balls are in
a straight line on the foot spot, not a little triangle.

I break from the left side on the head string about
2" off the long rail, in a straight line to the head ball
with low left english. Usually get a ball for the corner,
and one banks one rail towards the side.
