Hey you 3 C players, I have been learning about the game recently and playing down at Drexeline Billiards<<<awsome room!....I have a Local table mechanic finding me a 3C table for here at my house :) ....awsome!!!

I have been playing with my standard pool cue with an OB2 shaft. I seem to be able to move the ball around fine, but when I watch video I can tell the Pros cues are tapered differently then mine?

So...is it good policy to just have a billiard taper shaft made or what? or arer billiard cues different all together? I do have an extra OB1 shaft I could re-taper in my shop maybe? Whats the deal?

Yes I know there is a 3C section on AZB...I'll post there as well..

I would suggest getting a real 3c cue. As far as getting a shaft for your cue, not sure how well that would work (as I am sure you know) as good shaft makers turn shafts down incrementally, so I would think a dowel that is near completion already has too much material removed to be a 3c shaft.

And the material matter referenced above would also make a pool shaft unable to be retapered- the carom shafts have a more conical taper, so one would need to add material to a pool shaft, not remove material.

I believe Branprueza had a nice Longioni he is selling, fwiw. I like them cues.

I've only dabbled in 3-cushion, myself. Most serious Carom players I've seen have cues especially for that game.

A carom cue is generally shorter, stiffer, and lighter than a pool cue....
...and has a smaller tip ( 11.5 to 12mm)

I used to play 3-cushion with my Joss....but once you use a carom cue
you'll never go back to a pool cue...it's the right tool for the job.
