$30 for a piece of chalk...What's your favorite chalk to use?

I cannot understand why anyone would say that “only chalking once per game” is somehow a selling point. Chalking is part of my PSR. If it isn’t every shot, it no longer is part of the PSR and becomes a disruption.

I like Taom (V10, 2.0, and Pyro) because it’s less messy. I have five total. I’ll probably settle on two Pyros for my home table. Right now, I have a light blue 2.0 and a Pyro that I use interchangeably. The light blue 2.0 would be best suited for these new Grey Simonis tables, IMO, since it looks pretty much grey.

I will always do my best to chalk every shot.
Because it’s not part of my pre Shot routine for me . I prefer chalking once before playing a rack and then not bothering it. In case no one told you we aren’t all robots and We do things different lol if you like chalking every shot ..cool. Do it. If you don’t …cool don’t do it.

I loathe pre shot routines. None of that has anything to do with once you are down on the ball.
Yeah I mean every instructor teaches . Every pro player whether its pool, golf or hell even bowling has one. If you watch a pro basketball player shoot free throws guarantee they have But what do all those people know. I’m sure your better then all those pro’s so You do you. 😂

all jokes a side they are about the mental Side of the game. Doing things the same over and over again gives your mind confidence and helps you build solid and repeatable stroke. If you don’t need one good for you. We certainly are all different just like some of us don’t need to chalk after every shot and some of do ..but you’re in the minority. I’ve never seen a player who I’ve helped get a pre shot routine not benefit from it.

Never said I was better. I said I loathe pre shot routines. I understand the principle behind them. But thanks for the diatribe.

I play probably 1/2 hour to an hour nearly every day (you’d think I’d be better, Lol) plus double jeopardy once a week and a 14.1 match once a week. I chalk every few shots, maybe every 3,4,6,8 shots. I’ve been using V10 since August 2022 and it shows almost no wear.

At first I replaced chalking with looking at the tip in my PSR. After I got used to how often I needed to chalk, I quit looking every shot, and just chalk when it sorta feels like time to do so.

Miscues are extremely rare, and always when I screw up cue delivery, which is no different than when I used Masters, in fact, maybe less often.

But now I clean the table less frequently than monthly (before it was about weekly), and polish the balls about the same. I used to have to clean the CB every couple of days.

In retrospect prior to using V10 chalking every single shot was kind of disruptive to my PSR. Now I can concentrate in silence without looking and fumbling for chalk constantly.

As a result chalking has become more meaningful, not some grindy routine as before.

Oftentimes looking for your chalk because you have placed it somewhere else or fumbling around in your pocket or whatever can be disruptive to routines as well. I believe in pre-shot routines as being helpful, but that doesn't mean I can't change my pre- shot routine to include something else or even the lack of chalking every shot. For example, walking around the table instead of chalking, or something else meaningful. To be stuck in a rut of having to chalk every shot can be counterproductive in and of itself.

It felt strange when I first started only chalking between games but it didn’t take long for that To Become 2nd nature.

Well, I must say, I'm pretty happy with the pyro...

Except that it's round. That's really driving me nuts. I need to come up with a way to make it square....

Pre-shot routines are very important, but that doesn't mean chalking the cue has to be part of it or else the whole pre-shot routine goes to heck. Other aspects can be included in the pre shot routine if you feel they are beneficial, chalking is just chalking and doesn't make or break a pre-shot routine.
I really like the town V10 chalk and usually only chalk once per game. I still have a solid pre-shot routine without including chalking the cue.

To the OP.... I purchased a gross of Predator Crest chalk.
Works Very good.
Each cube lasts allot longer than Master.
The chalk is allot less messy, on my hands.... table stays cleaner longer.
I gave my Master Chalk to a bar room owner works fine in his situation.
Also, the cubes have two sides that are white in color, easy to see on a dark floor.
$40 for the box.
