314-2 as against HP2

Does anybody out there who could share their idea on the advantage and disadvantage of using 314-2 shaft shifting to an HP2 solid shaft?

I'm just curious of buying an HP2 shaft becoz of some good information of its solid hit and good feel in using it, but i'm a little questionable on how will i get easily accustom into it. Noting my slow speed in stroke for a 314-2. Will there be a change in stroke using a solid shaft or the same application?

Any help out there? Many thanks !!

I shifted from 314-2 to HPII, few years ago. Never looked back since. You have to try it to know if it will suit you. HPII is more solid feeling, deflection is same with 314-2, thus minor adjustments if not none is needed. HPII is heavier too. Both shafts are good. Just remember, your game is 90% dependent on your skill, knowledge, mental attitude and of course some luck. Happy shooting.

deflection-wise it won't be a huge adjustment, the hp2 and 314-2 are very close. the hp2 is very stiff though and has a completely different feel. much harder hit, and has unique feel due to the composite core. the tip size is slightly smaller too, which may or may not be a big deal to you. taper is a little bit more aggressive. both are good shafts, just depends on personal preference and i wouldn't get caught up too much into equipment chasing.

Hp2 is more stiff, However 314-2 moves cue ball much more.
Hp2 is of course heavier but you can always get a 314-2 4oz or more.
Hp2 is shooting a gun with a silencer on.
Hp2 is 12.5 and 314-2 is 12.75.
Deflection is 95% Same
Now it all depends on you which one suits your playing style, so try one and decide.

thank you guys for a nice information that i got from you.....i guess i have to stick on my present shaft 314-2 by which i feel comfortable....

Can you clarify what you mean by that?

Anyway, the description of the HP2 sounds very similar to McDermotts I series, especially the beefy i1. Would this be a fair comparison?

definitely NOT like the i series shafts....they do both have composite cores, but the comparisons stop there. totally different in all other respects

The sound and feedback which you get with Hp2 is much less than any other shaft.

Considering the 'OB CLASSIC' is a very stiff hit with minimum deflection,

How does the HP2 play compared the the "Ob Classic"????????

Coming from a 314-2 I'd go for a wd-700 less deflection than the HP2 same taper than the 314-2 and much more feel than both together.

I find it easier to follow with a 314-2, but I find it easier to make long shots with hybrid pro 2.

Hybrid pro 2 is a good shaft. Stiff and has lots of power.

Deflection wise it is almost the same with 314-2.

Mezz alpha

I bought the mezz high end ld shaft for 5 16 14 with silver ring. Tested it out and prefer my regular shaft. It is stiff Solid and predictable I just like mu normal shaft If anyone is interested in trading or buying let me know.

yes, some recent discussions have stated that the wd-700 and HP2 have very comparable deflection. I find them both to be very low. I think wd700 shaft has better feel, personally.

I wouldn't count out the wd700, I think there is a reason that most of the pros using mezz are using wd and not hp2. Not that the HP2 isn't great, but the WD700 is really nice.

Many thanks guys for the so many inputs you have shared in.....i guess better for me to try and finally find it out which suits my taste and feel !!!
