314-2 Now available for Schuler?

I ran across an add that said the 314-2 shafts are now available for the Ray Schuler line of cues.. Has anyone tried a 314-2 on a Ray Schuler?


Im about to buy another Shaft for my Schuler, and Im seriously considering a 314-2, but to be honest Id like to have some options, who makes a shaft to fit the Ray Schuler joint?

I bought a Ray Schuler original plain jane a while back and it's
one of the best hitting cues I have. But if you like Predator shafts...
I would be curious about people's opinions who have played with
Schuler's originals as to how the current line compares?

I had a 314 put on my Schuler. It's a very good combination, but there is a slight loss in the Schuler hit. To anyone that's not used to a Schuler hit (no reference), it feels like a super solid cue.

If you ask Schuler Cue, they's probably tell you that they can/will put any after market shaft on a Schuler Cue. That includes the OB-1 shaft. Ray Schuler is probably rolling over in his grave, but business has changed.

I'm confident that if Schuler is the company putting on the after market shaft, then it will exactly what you're looking for, if a Schuler hit and a low squirt shaft is your thing.

No difference between the late years of Ray and the current SLC line.

Earlier years (pre Ivan Lee), Ray like to make the butt thick. He had big hands, so he made them the way he liked. But the solid hit is the same from my early 80's Schuler, late 90's Schuler, and my 00+ SLC.

I like the Schuler hit, for sure.. My shaft for the Schuler Has a Long Meucci type ferrule, and Im not sure whitch Schuler Shaft will match the one I have, The taper is one reason I like my Schuler, I know the 314-2 shaft I can tolerate the taper, I would preferably have an exact match to my current shaft, Schuler doesnt Show the Shafts on thier site, so I havent a clue whitch one to buy... If the Schuler shaft had the taper so many cues do, I wouldnt like it.

The Super X is very long in taper. It's closer to a Meucci taper, after someone has sanded it a few times.


The Super Pro is closer to a Meucci taper when it's new.

Seybert's (877.314.2837). They've done several Predator shafts for a Schuler. Get your best price then call Seybert's.

I believe the Super X is proboly close to what I have, its not a Meucci Taper, but has a very long taper, Do you know if the super X also has the Long Ferrule?

I have Predator 314-2 shafts that I got for my Schulers directly from Bryan at Schuler. They charge $260.00 a piece. I've had Schulers since the 80's. I used a Super pro shaft for years. I tried to improve my game by changing to the Predator 314-2. I also tried a Z-2 which was to skinny and I sold that on ebay.
I can tell you that the hit is still solid. The big thing to keep in mind is the way you aim. It definitely takes some getting use to. I recently thought that I'd go back to my Super pro. What a mistake, shots that I was cutting with the Predator, I was way off with the Super pro. Slight cuts were no problem but long & tough cuts I was way off. The next day I went back to the Predator.
The best suggestion I can give you is if you switch make it for good because you can't switch back and forth because it will really screw up your game.
It also depends on how good you play. If you play really well, do you think spending the 260.00 will improve your game ?
Just some thoughts , hope it helps with your decision.
