3D printed extension for a modern Predator butt.

The top 3 pieces were to test fit the male and female threads quickly. This is not meant to be quick release. I'm tall and use 2-3" extension all the time. This one is 2".

It works well, very solid. The only issue is its slippery, sort of like a linen wrap. When I do hold it at the very end, which is a couple times per rack, I don't want it slipping. I'm thinking of printing another one with ribbing for a better grip. Or, maybe a flare at the end like Perry Weston puts on his butt cap.

Nice job. I've printed extensions and they work well. Just printed a mirror frame for my table. you can see pics of it over in a cue alignment thread in the ask the instructor forum.
 
Nice......I have the same thread conversion on my normal playing cue.... but that cue is currently in the shop.....I make custom TPU two tone butt caps...One that use the same thread pattern as the P-conversion.........I experienced the same "slip" you mention on an PLA extension.....

my plan is to make a PLA extension with a inset (like is used for the wrap on the butt) and then make a TPU wrap to put on that will eliminate the slip.

I like that idea. In the early 2000's I used to play with a carom rubber roll-on wrap on my pool cue for a few years. I really liked its stickiness. I don't remember why I got away from it. I was thinking to put one of those on the extension. I'll have to see if I still have one.

The TPU is a good idea too. I have some in yellow. Maybe I'll try it.
 
The first one I made broke after screwing it on and off a few times. It had 15% infill. I made a new one printed at 100% infill, and I hollowed out the inside for less weight. I made this one white and put on my main shooting cue.

Added a flair. That helped the grip a bit. Also made it slightly angled like the real cue, instead of perfectly parallel.

This is the winner. Another member turned me on to the texturing capabilities built into the printer. This is by far the best grip. It feels good in the hand, and I don't feel like the cue is going to slip out of my hand. The left one is the first one, straight and smooth. The right one is angled and textured.
