Hi Everyone,

This is my first post so let me start by saying hello from England.

I'm absolutely nuts for what you guys call English 8-ball and I'm starting to really love the American style of cue sports; your cues are all amazing compared to most of the English cues.

What I'd like to know is if any of you cue makers would be interested in my services?

What I'm offering you is the ability to convey your ideas to your customers before committing to cutting any expensive woods. I'm able to do this by using the latest in 3D CAD Software to produce images of your design ideas. This can save valuable time and costly reworks due to picky customers.

This is all just a new idea that I had but I'd like to hear your thoughts. For my day job I charge £50 per hour (about $82USD on today's market) but i'm more than willing to reduce my costs as this will be a labour of love. I'm also one of these guys who appreciates a "services for services" trade, i.e I'll make x number of images in exchange for an old cue that you may have lying around or are having difficulty to sell.

Let me know your thoughts or PM me if you wish. I'll be happy to answer any questions that you have and i'll try to expand on my proposal in later posts.

Thanks guys,

Exile

P.S. When looking at the images below please bear in mind that i have never made or designed an American cue in my life! They are just there to give you guys an idea of what could be done. Again, sorry if the designs are a bit retro and beneath some of your talents.

Several before you have tried this idea, but these are BY FAR the best renderings that I have seen.

Hi guys,

here's a little more info:

The program i'm using is called Solidworks 2009. This is where i produce the 3D CAD (usually for products within the fishing sports/leisure industry). I then take that data into a rendering program and apply/tweak the materials for the desired effect.

Just to give you and idea of how i'd run this sort of thing;

I'd produce the cue to YOUR designs and throw in 3 colour/material changes for FREE. Once you are happy with your design i'll produce up to 10 rendered images from different angles showing off the best features of your design (all chosen by you).

On receipt of a pay pal payment you will receive All 10 images in any resolution you request. These could be used on your own websites to show people what you are working on etc...

The images are then 100% turned over to you in terms of copyright.

This isn't a get quick rich scheme or a replacement for my job, i'm just keen to get involved in some cue design.

Thanks for the kind words about my first three images. :D:D:D

to give you an idea of costs i'd charge about £40 - 70 (this MAY be open to negotiation) for those 3 images + the other 10 if wanted. I'll say £'s for now because of the massive fluctuations in the economy. Basically i'd keep a record of my time, calculate in £'s then use the daily currency exchange rate to work out in $. But remember, i'm also open to offers and cue trades

Thanks,

Exile

Wow, that is good work.

What about non-cue makers? Say, I would like to design my dream cue before shopping it to cue makers; would you render the images then turn them over to me, so I can shop them to my makers of choice?
