3x5 or bigger stick case? What is in the 3rd hole?

Shiver me timbers.

I talked about this in another thread wondering why I need a 3X5. Other than the fact that I liked the looks of this case, it was a 3X5 and I bought it. There have been a few threads on 'what stick do you use' or 'what break stick do you use'. Well, that's two. Two stick cases usually have a side pocket for a jump stick butt and a place for the shaft. So what do we need the 3rd hole for? What's in yours? For a long time I just had my old Lucasi in it, now it has my old break cue in it. Neither ever comes out of the case. Why does this cross my mind? Guess I'm getting old enough that I'm thinking about lightening the load.

I find that sometimes during warmups I just won't be feeling right with the stick I had planned on using. I'll give the other stick a try and see if it makes a difference, you'd be surprised how often it does, even if it is all in my head. Also I like to show off my nicer cues now and again.

i got an extra long jump cue butt that wont go in the jump pocket, so mine goes in the 3rd hole......but i like having the extra hole in case i buy or wanna sell a stick, then its right there with me

3 X 7

I use a 3 X 7 Instroke Buffalo case. I carry 1 SledgeHammer jump/break and two playing cues. The 7th hole usually has someones retiped shaft in it, comming and going from the pool hall. I am seriously considering buying a very nice Justis case in the near future.

One break stick, and two playing cues.
Sometimes when I go to the pool hall, I feel that my playing cue is too heavy. This all depends on the speed of the cloth that I am playing on. The faster the cloth, the lighter I feel that my cue needs to be. When on the slower cloth, the extra weight seems to help me power the cue ball around.

I am getting a new 3x5 Talisman case made because I have not been able to carry my break cue around, since my Stretch System was way more important to have than a break cue. Now I can have both!

I LIKE IT! When I make a post here I almost always learn something. "Faster cloth = lighter stick" Very Good!

Thank you for sharing

Have you ever tried to lug one of those around when it's full? I have one that I keep a portion of my collection in and it's not for those with a weak back to haul around, even with the wheels. I have a 3x5 that I carry a break cue, shooting cue, and jump cue with an extension. I had to insert a small cardboard tube to keep the jump cue from dropping to the bottom of the case.

LMAO! Yeah, or at least have one given to them. A cue caddy huh?

[DREAMING]
He looks over to his cue caddy and in a stuffy voice and says, "Jonesy, hand me my extend-a-bridge, would you please. Oh, and Jonsey, get that break cue chalked up, I belive I'm out." :D

Cases ...

For light weight tournaments, a 2 x 4 could be okay,
but when people go to big tournaments or real important
ones, they like to take the 'formal' case that has the room
for everything they need.

I lugged a fully loaded 4 x 8 Porper case around Vegas,
the Riveria, for 10 days, with 2 playing cues, a break cue,
and a jump cue (jump butt was longer than pocket, so had
dowel pin in butt tube so it wouldn't slip down too far). Let
me tell you, my shoulder got so sore that I bought a seatbelt
pad for the shoulder strap when I got home (shoulder strap was
not padded).

I guess we all have to learn what works best in the way of cases.
Since then I have found a 3 x 5 to be the best size for me. My current
case has a wide shoulder strap that has built in padding. It has the
room in it I want, and although not full, I anticipate it being so in
the future. Now, I carry a playing cue, a break/jump cue, and
another jump cue in it, with room for a 2nd playing cue if I want.
