4 cue case recommendation

Looking for a 4 cue case. Don't need to carry 8 shafts. I will carry 2 playing cues and 2 break cues. Seems like most 4 cue cases are 4x8.

Looking for something high quality, but will a nice leather 4x8 be heavy ?

I just bought a beautiful Erofey 2x4, but have to sell it since it is not practical to carry two 2 cue cases.

Mine isn't fancy, but is nice enough for me at this point in my life. It's a basic Porper 4x4, got it for just under $100.

If you want higher end than that, I'm sure JB Cases can give you more choices than you can handle. No doubt many other case makers, too.

I have a 3x5 giussseppi. No too heavy, but it does sit at home...honestly, everytime I take that MFer out, I lose:angry: dammit.

Bigger things are heavier. Kinda goes without saying...well, used to go without, anyway.

if you are looking for a lightweight good looking everyday carry case in 4x8 configuration there are two good choices. the sterling vinyl wave case has a fantastic interior and has a very reasonable price, they can be had around $150. my preference is the black and tan color combination. if you want leather then the whitten lite 4x8 is the case you'd want. you're going to pay moe money depending on the options you get, go to their website and check them out. jamie at new2youqs usually has some in stock as well. good luck.

The 4x8 predator soft case is great. I went with a soft case and love it. It weighs less then half of my 2x4 predator hard case.

Case

I used to have a Porper 4 x 8 case, and yes it was heavy, cuts into your shoulder. I would not have one again, the shoulder strap was thin, and not padded.

My question to you is: Why do you need to carry 2 break cues? If you only carried one of them, then you could get a 3 x 5 or 3 x 6 case, and they are a lot easier to find than a 4 x 8 case. Trust me, 4 x 8 are too heavy to lug around all the time.

I have a 3 x 5 case, and have a Break/jump cue with 2 shafts (1 shaft has phenolic tip and other has super dud tip), a playing cue with 1 shaft, and next year I am getting another playing cue made with 2 shafts, and then my case will be full.

My wife and I play in a team league. Most of the time she goes to the hall directly from work. It is easier if I bring her cues.

The Jim Murnak leather soft sided butterfly cases are very popular amongst players in the NYC tour circuit. Sounds like it would fit your requirement perfectly.

If money is an issue, J&J has plenty of 4x6 cases which you can pick up @ Billiard Warehouse for $115. They also have a 4x8 on wheels for $155 on their site if you're worried about weight. Also look at a Sterling Wave, very nice cases with backpack straps.

We can make any configuration you want. Weight is dependent on the thickness and type of leather used as well as the weight of the tubing. We can make you a case for 4 cues in the size of a 3x6 for example. Something like maybe 4x5.

Or we can make you a butterfly which will come in about 2-3lbs in whatever configuration you want.

I can see eventually getting a nice custom JB or Murnak Butterfly case, but for now, most likely will get one of the less expensive 4x8 soft cases.

The one's I see on the various online shops include:

Lucasi
Mezz
Sterling
Angora
Predator
Pro Series
Porper VIP

They all look about the same. All the reviews seem positive. Anyone have experience with more than one ?

Have you ever made cases with a stand? Seems like it would be a nice feature to have from the ones I have seen.

I just bought a Signature WAVE 4x8 cost was 144.00 shipped from Sieberts...it is really well built and sturdy..it has the JB interior...IMO can't get better for the money.

Not with one built in.

I find them to be awkward and unsightly. Mechanically they are unstable and take up a lot of room. As someone said about them once I would rather lean my case against a $300,000 building than a flimsy pieced of metal.

Cases with stands have been on the market for a while and they don't sell well. After people get them they realize that they are not so great after all.

So no, for now I am not interested in building cases with stands.

I read Jim no longer makes cases ? I believe he plays in the Amsterdam 9 ball league. Maybe he makes exceptions for NYC locals ?
