40 Ball Run from Yesterday

I recorded this last week, wasn't going to post it but here it is. 30+ balls which is about all I can do with this cataract. Music added by me.

A couple obvious mistakes, the one that got me was taking the 15 up table too early in the final rack, it was a good insurance ball.

alstl,

Nice video. I think you should start a new thread and put this video in it so all can see it and help out.

First thing I noticed is in the 1st rack, you ran into a ball while playing position at least six times. If the cue ball is going to run into a ball thats out in the open, why not play to shoot that ball next? Also I try to plan 3-4 shots ahead, even though missed position ruins it all the time, but the plan is to get me to my next problem area on the table and it doesnt seem like your doing that. I feel like your more conscerned with making the shot in front of you and accepting what ever shape you receive. You can see this on the last few balls of every rack because you end up having to leave yourself really long breakshots.

I dont understand why you jacked up for the two shots in the side. You can play the pocket and cut the ball a little so that you will hit a side rail and not scratch. If I can do this on my diamond I know you can on your table.

At 16:55 you hit that 6 ball way to hard. you really just needed to roll it in for easy shape on the one. By hitting it hard you almost hook yourself, then your only shot was a steep cut on the one which was difficult to control position which lead you to your long missed shot.

I like the black socks, awesomeness

Also that 4 ball combo to open the rack was super sweet! You needed to get that rack open and that did it real nice.

The walls in my pool room are close to the table. That's why I jack up. I have a shorter cue but I'm too lazy to get it most of the time, and it doesn't play very well. If I had been at 95 instead of 35 I would have grabbed the shorter cue on the next to last shot.

The reason I hesitated to post the video is because it isn't much of a run. If I run 50 or more on camera I'll start a threat with it.

Well I am posting videos so that people such as Mr. Dan white and a few others on here can help me learn something and in turn help me be a better player and post more videos of higher runs! Its a viscious cycle!

I am in a good mood......... Yes, you do need to start your own Thread.
You could be the best "Jacked Up" shooter that I have ever seen. You have a serious problem with space. It's time to add on that extension.
Great, great music. I was very disappointed when you missed. I was so into the music. I am headed to my game room to do some shooting & listen to some Traffic & B.B. King.
Thanks for posting.

Glad you enjoyed the music.

Funny thing is when I go to a pool hall with some room I can usually get a decent run within an hour or two but I never have a camera.

If I manage a 50 with a camera I'll start a thread and I promise I'll add some music but I'm telling you playing with a cataract is a different deal, kind of feel like the pinball wizard from the Who song.

Front Foot Weight

I can vouch for this advice from Ingo. Since he told me, I have been staying down better. When your weight is on your bridge hand, if you try to lift it, you will fall on your face.:D

Putting more weight on your front foot is helpful in making long shots too. It adds stability to your bridge hand turning your body into more of a tripod (stable) rather than a bent over bipod using your hand only to hold/guide the cue shaft.

Center Pocket,

You seem to be a 9-ball player trying to play straight pool using a 9-ball approach to the game. That won’t work. Well, it may, if you’re Efren Reyes.

As others may or may not have said, you don’t finish the execution of the shot before standing up, you often shoot balls too hard, you play “area” position rather than “point” position which frequently leaves you with a more difficult shot (longer or sharper cut) which causes you to lose control of the CB and/or bang into balls that shouldn’t be moved.

On the 3rd shot you play a solid ball (5 ball?) in the side which could have given you easy position to take out the striped ball that’s on the rail. Instead, you hit the shot with hard inside English and put the ball in the middle of the table. Balls in front of side pockets and balls on the rails go together like PB&J. You use the shot in the side to get to the ball on the rail so you don’t have to work at getting back to the ball on the rail.

The rest I saw the others already commented on. Nice shooting! Your game is progressing nicely.
