http://vimeo.com/14897181 Jim (9balljim), I hope that you don't mine but I took the liberty to post your 44 ball run on its own thread. It's a good run and I know how hard that you have been working at playing straight pool. It deserves its own.
Is that your new high run? I see it is for this year. After pocketing those first two balls & setting up for a break shot. The next rack was played very well. Behind the back shot was great. Look out "Jesse"
The next rack, good break but the balls rolled out poorly. Great looking over the table and finding that combo. If the combo was not there, you had a great Safe by stopping the cue ball by shooting the 1-ball and leaving the cue stuck on the 9-ball.
The problem with that rack. You were going up & down the table when shooting balls. Try to stay in one area at the time. The ball you shot in the left side. You could of followed off the rail and took care of the other ball in the right side but you went down table instead.
The ball you missed to end the run. You were a little too straight on that break. The position was off on the two balls you made prior to that break shot. You tried to cheat the pocket too much to get a break out.
Over all, very good. I'm proud of you. You need some music in the back ground. Hey, why are you playing in your underpants.........Only kidding.
I took a lot of kidding for making that run I had in my Pj's. Your kitty looks like he or she is well fed.

I don't mind at all. Thanks for the recognition. I think of it as my official new high run. Although I ran 47 during a game of equal offense, each inning of that particular game starts with an open break. So I don't really think of that as my high run. Although an open break can result in up-table clusters, which seem to be rare in 14.1, and could therefore pose its own challenges. Or I could have had started a run with a nice spread off of a missed break shot. Oh well.

After the four-ball combo in that second rack, I felt like going down table after playing the first stripe in the side and the second stripe in the lower left corner gave me the chance to address those three balls on the right long rail by playing the combination. The first stripe in the left side had a pretty good angle and don't think I had an option to go into the pack. Besides, every ball had a pocket as soon as I addressed the three on the right rail and didn't want to move balls if there wasn't an obvious benefit. I know what you mean about going up and down table. That was an interesting rack from the beginning.

I thought I played the third rack pretty well except for not playing enough stun on the fourth last ball to go more steeply in and out of the bottom right corner. If I had, I wouldn't have bumped my K2K ball. After that I knew it was going to be touchy getting straight or close to straight on my key ball. With the angle I had I probably should have gone down to the foot rail and back up to the middle of the table for a possibly better break shot. At the time, that option appeared to be a little more aggressive than I was comfortable with especially knowing I was on a high run.

Thanks for the kind words and comments. Sometimes I have music on. That night I didn't. And yes, our cat Twilight (male) is well fed.

I didn't think anything about your run in your pj's. You looked relaxed and comfortable. You should feel comfortable playing at home. I always play in shorts.

Mike, I forgot to say that I could have used this run about 36 hours later. I played Nagaki Sunday afternoon and it was 109-108 in the 35th inning. Neither of us could get in stroke. Then Mike caught a gear and I thought he was going to run 42 and out on me. He made his last break shot to get to 148 and missed his next shot. The first thing I thought of was my 44 ball run and how I needed to come with one right now. I ended up running 12 and scratched getting on my break ball. He got me 150-120.

Sounds like a good match all the way. It very easily could of gone the other way too. He is a very good player and has no give up in him.
Just learn by your wins & loses and keep practicing. Your game is coming around. See you Thursday night at the Den. We have a double header.
