If you can afford one, buy it.
It's not going to make your skill level increase whatsoever. Not even slightly. To suggest as much is ridiculous. Nothing bought can replace practice and developing solid fundamentals.
I have some nice cues, but most often find myself shooting with a $90 J&J sneaky Pete, that for whatever reason seems to hit just like some very high end cues. I'll spare names to avoid insulting anyone.
It's a distasteful notion, but very true.
If you want a carbon shaft because it's tough and durable, then it's definitely a good idea.

I agree.

I've played with $100 cues that play ever bit as well as "any" cue ever made.

Deflection? Well, thats another story.

Truth be told, I have won more money playing off the wall than I have ever won with one of my custom cues.

I have been playing with a JD Cue for the last three years with various OB Shafts on it. I never really got up to speed with the OB Shafts.

I have had a used Meucci Carbon Pro shaft for a month now. I am playing at least two balls better with it. I do not wear a glove. I cleaned it with an alcohol soaked rag and coated it with a layer of Renaissance wax. I love it.

I am 75 years old. I started playing APA League, one season. Today my team went to the second elimination tournament. I am an APA 5, Will probably be a 6 Monday. I played another 5 today and beat him 38 points to 14. Like I said, I love my new shaft.

What is all this talk of needing a glove using a CF shaft? I've been shooting with one for over 3 years and never needed or used a glove with it.
